please avoid this place. I highly recommend going somewhere else. I wouldn’t put my child in this facility. My child went here for a few months and he always hated going to this place. The staff is so inconsistent. They don’t know how to communicate well with the parents and kids and also updating parent with situations that is happening within the program. Supposedly there’s a limit on how many kids there is for each room but they mix them both and they just looks very chaotic my child had was there for about a year and had about six different staff members, that were not professional at all. They didn’t know how to work with the kids and the parents it seem like this facility was just wanting to have as much kids as possible with a low fee to charge the parents so they could get more funds. My child is at another place and is happy to be going every single day without any complaints. The staff is very welcoming and approachable and most importantly communication is top notch.
The YWCA Elmwood is the most unprofessional establishment I have ever dealt with. If your child is enrolled here, stay vigilant. This organization has shown no interest in improving or evolving from its failures. My 8-month-old son sustained physical injuries on two separate dates (Jan 8 and Feb 6) due to supervision and ratio failures. When I attempted to hold them accountable, I faced constant administrative obstruction. The Chief HR Officer and Site Manager refused to allow me to view video evidence of the attack on my son—even after I obtained consent from the other party involved. They are operating with inconsistent handbooks and, in my experience, appear more interested in 'warehousing' children than providing the quality developmental care they promise. I have officially terminated care 'for cause' and have filed reports with the West Hartford Police and the Office of Early Childhood (OEC). I am truly relieved this experience is over and hope my actions hold this organization accountable for the safety of other families
I lived down the street from this child care center after touring many, and this location sold me! The set up for kids with items within reach, the level of adult supervision, the bathroom use procedures, fenced in playground, learning activities, friendly staff, cleanliness, everything! Now this was 3 years ago. The teachers were great Ms. Camely and Nella. Then, they left and I finished the year into the summer and decided to put my daughter into Catholic school. I highly recommend this place, they made me feel so comfortable leaving my daughter and the price was affordable.
Our son has been enrolled here since he was 6 months old. He loves it there! The teachers are very responsive and good at sending us updates during the day, and he is learning so much. They have been following all COVID precautions too - it's also one of the more affordable centers in the area!
