What Parents Say
The reviews are for a YMCA facility, not a daycare center. Parents praise the clean, well-equipped fitness facility with two pools, sauna, hot tub, and Lake Michigan views. Staff receive consistent recognition for friendliness, helpfulness, and personalized service.
Pros: Very fine facilities. Well maintained. Easily the nicest Y that I've ever been in (I've visited 10 or more over my lifetime). Many activities. Many programs. Exercise room is the best! Weight room is the best (well, not as good as a college football weight room - but CF spends millions!). ----------------------------------------------- Cons: Deb and Jeff are very friendly and upbeat, most of the other staff would rather talk to each other, play on their phones, or just ignore the clientele. (I work in a service business where if any of us do what some of them do, we would be warned once, and then let go). BTW, the front desk is called a 'welcome center' and should be that, IMO. TV stations are varied, but why 6 Pac-10 channels and 1 Big 10 (18) channel? (I know, it's part of a package deal, but get a different package!) I'd score it 4.5 stars out of 5.
The staff is wonderful! I was very pleasantly surprised that there are two indoor pools and the smaller free swimming pool is quite warm, the hot tub and sauna available in the women's locker room are just as good if not better than other very expensive Sport Club facilities
I Love the YMCA I've been going there for about 20 years now! Im very happy I got a family membership! My daughter loves it there! So many options for activities to keep your kids busy all summer and dont forget about yourself there are plenty activities for adults as well! Go get your membership today!
I started going to the Y after having my second child. I wanted to get my energy back because I was always tired. I knew I wanted to hire a personal trainer, so I talked to someone at the facility about the time of day I had available and what types of workouts I was hoping for. Then they had Personal Trainer, John Wagner, contact me and set up my first session. John was high energy and fast-paced at first, but I told him that wouldn’t work well for me and that I needed something slower. He automatically adjusted to better fit my needs. He taught me how to both use the machines at the facility and, more specifically, how to workout using only the few pieces of equipment I had available to me at home. He always had a plan for what we would do for each session and always made a point to get in a full-body workout. He even helped me rehabilitate after a knee injury by working in conjunction with my physical therapy exercises. He always seemed to know exactly what the PT was going to introduce in my follow appointment before I even went to my next session. His knowledge of the fundamentals and simple explanations made each workout easy to follow and were targeted to my needs. If at any point I didn’t feel comfortable doing a specific exercise, he would adjust to a different one on the spot and that new exercise would still hit the target muscles. If I ever need personal training or any joint rehab in the future, then I know where to go and who to contact. Thanks John!
Great facility. The workout area is fantastic and the east wall is glass and looks out on Lake Michigan. Always available and there is plenty of machines and weights. The gyms are available and the lock rooms are terrific. The hot tub/dry sauna/steamroom in the lockeroom are wonderful.
