My son previously experienced difficulties at another school, which led to some behavioral challenges. Before enrolling him at this center, I explained his history to the director and shared video examples of his behavior. She assured me they would be able to support him and provide one-on-one attention when needed. When he started in August 2025, things initially went well. Later, my older children, who attend the after-school program, told me they saw a staff member physically redirect my son, and after that he began having more behavioral issues. The center had told me they would only call in an emergency, but I began receiving daily calls to pick him up. I was also told that if I could not come immediately, he would not be able to attend the next day. The director was often at another location, which made communication difficult, and I sometimes received different information from staff and management. My children also mentioned that cameras were not functioning properly and that the water had an unpleasant smell. I was unaware of this until they told me, but it concerned me because they were always very thirsty when I picked them up. I also experienced billing issues, such as being charged during the summer when my children were not present, although these charges were eventually corrected after I was instructed to provided proof. I also observed inconsistent policy enforcement. For example, I was once asked to pick up my son for having one loose stool even though the written policy states three. When I questioned this, I was later told it had been an error. Over time, I felt my son was being handled differently than other children. He was allegedly sometimes not allowed to go outside or was allegedly restricted to using only one toy. Staff called me to pick my son up due to claims that he was throwing chairs. When I requested that staff take the chair, and informed them I was unable to leave, I was informed by a staff member the police would be called on my son 3 year old son and I could pick my son up from the Calera Police Department. Staff told me he could not return the day after this incident, which ultimately led me to withdraw both him and his sibling. In addition to my own experiences, I was approached by multiple staff members -- some currently working at the facility and some who are no longer there -- starting over the summer before my children even got back there until they left, who shared their personal concerns about how certain situations were handled inside the center. Hearing these concerns directly from employees contributed to my overall discomfort and my decision to remove my child from the program.

I have used both locations for my boys and as I said when my oldest was enrolled in their care they truly love your babies like their own! Our experiences have been nothing short of wonderful and I am so thankful to have a great school nearby to love and care for my baby when I have to be away at work. They work with you, and make sure you're never out of stuff for your kiddos with plenty of notice. They get wonderful play experiences and the socialization that nurtures your littles to be sure they'll make plenty of friendships❤️ jaws is thriving and loving it here with you all!

They constantly close early or just shut down the facility with no notice. They will not communicate with you about anything (aside from a hand written sign that is taped to the front door). Do not waste your money on child care when they refuse to care for your child (and you will still have to pay even when they close for a week). The inconsistency and unreliability of the Calera Young Impressions center has cost me my job because I have had to miss so much work due to them not operating. If I could give zero stars I would. I have been harassed at work with nonstop calls to come and get my child before the center was closed, solely because she was the last child there and the employee wanted to leave early. They refuse to accept any children after 9am, I have literally shown up at 9:03 am and was turned away. Do yourself and your children a favor and keep looking for a better child care facility.

This place does not have your child's best interest at heart. Delores is one of the teachers there and she will neglect your child, has been seen pushing a 3 year old down, has neglected to give a drink to a child ALL DAY long, watched a baby trying to climb out of the baby bed and screams at the children. The director was notified but Delores was never reprimanded. They have a huge turnover rate due to employees like Delores.
