What Parents Say
This facility is a YMCA gym with some childcare services, not a dedicated daycare. Reviews are mixed, with most praising the affordable price and low crowding, but many criticizing the outdated facility and equipment condition. Some reviewers noted issues with staff reliability regarding posted hours.
I used the small Y for my short stay in the area. The equipment and facility is pretty old and rundown. Not the nicest Y I've been, but have the necessary equipment to work out. The staff were nice and helpful.
The YMCA in Arlington was an awful experience from start to finish. The staff was incredibly rude, unwelcoming, and even showed signs of racist behavior. We were treated with no respect or basic courtesy — not like guests at all. The facility itself is filthy, old, and falling apart. It smells bad, the equipment is broken, and it’s clear no one cares to maintain it. There are much better, more respectful, and cleaner options in the area — I would never go back.
The gym was alright, but the hours posted for child watch were inaccurate, and when we called they gave us the wrong times. Not a great experience overall.
The reason this place isn’t 3 stars is because the men’s sauna is spectacular. The sauna is above and beyond all other ymca saunas I’ve been to. The weights are acceptable but not great, there’s no pool, the people at the front are pretty useless but that’s par for the course at many YMCAs, at least they’re not as rude as the staff at Alexandria. Also they recently started doing towels which is awesome. The hours are what you would expect for a smaller YMCA. If you can get into XSPORT when they have deals that’s probably better overall since it’s 24 hours. Lifetime is nice but not worth the money.
The place is very conveniently located and is NEVER crowded. Equipment is clean and there's always enough weights. However, the facility and equipment is ancient and awkwardly arranged. Straight out of the 80s. They also don't have many machines present at most modern day gyms. Great if you only need the bare basics for your workout and don't mind the enclosed spaces.
