What Parents Say
Parents praise the YMCA Child Development Center's director April and staff for their caring, attentive approach to child development and behavior support. The facility offers nutritious meals and a safe learning environment, though it is an older building currently undergoing renovations. Parents appreciate the reasonable membership costs and available scholarships.
Granted the facility is old and the pool is small, but there have been many recent upgrades. I dispute the comments about staff as well. The director, the swim team coaches and many of the staff are amazing and doing the best they can in a lower socioeconomic area.
I just have to praise the director of the child care center for a minute! April has been such a blessing the almost 4 years we’ve been interacting with her. She started taking care of our infant Fiona and has since moved up into managing the center. She’s got this special something about her that she knows each child and their quirks and needs and what makes them tick. We’ve had a few instance’s where we needed help with our 2 kids behavior and she on her own time sits and observes them and figures out what’s going on and helps us work out the issues. She has gracefully carried the center thru Covid and all the craziness that came with it! The short staffing has been hard on everyone especially us as we are self employed and work as sun contractors. We have no family close and not any friends so finding child care when the center has to close has been incredibly frustrating but we manage. April takes all the parents complaints and not so nice words and she lets it roll off her back and keeps her professional yet still loving and kind demeanor. We’ve gotten frustrated with her and she just keeps her cool and doesn’t treat us any differently. I’ve been meaning to leave a review on the center and I’m just getting the chance to! This is an excellent center the teachers and staff are all wonderful Lindsey in the toddler room is so kind and caring and truly loves each and every child. Lindsey has listened to my concerns for my son Aj and helped me figure out the best solution for his behavior she’s been working with him with his speech and he is talking non stop using clear words and so many new ones at that! She is wonderful! Sara has been so wonderful as well!. I feel my children are safe and well cared for while they are there. Not just safe but they are learning and that is so important. The food they serve always looks delicious and nutritious. My kids eat healthy there and I’m so thankful for that as well. The Ymca child development center has been such a blessing to our family and I know that without all the special staff it wouldn’t be what it is!
I do not recommend taking your children to this place. It is filled with black mold in every classroom, the rooms are never cleaned or sanatitized properly, and the management is rude and disrespectful. The teachers there are wonderful and try to do the best they can, but the management makes it so hard on them. They are also racist, hate filled people. I don’t recommend anyone to take their children here or to apply for jobs at this place.
Older facility but still has a lot of good resources for the community. Facility is currently undergoing some renovations. They have Cardio equipment, gym, weights, lots of exercise classes and the pool is nice! Membership is reasonable and there are scholarships available for those with income limitations. Go by and check them out.
This is by far the worst child care facility you could ever take your children too. They make false accusations on the children that causes the child to go thru so much stress. I would not take my dogs to these people. Now my sons teacher was simply amazing it was some of the helpers.
