Very nice place with good equipment, very spacious and includes a sauna, basketball court, various classes, and swimming pool. Great gym to work out at. Great for realtors like myself because not to many people are there during the day on your free days!
Respectfully…I was here many years ago and don’t remember it being as dirty as it is. It’s old and ran down but used to be more maintained. The fitness center is decent and they do offer lots of classes. It’s functional I guess. They have an afterschool program here now which is nice. It’s not a lot of open gym or open swim availability like it used to be (why I even considered returning in the first place). The old director worked to keep the facilities clean and things looked pretty dirty and gross today. The gym wasn’t too bad but the facilities overall are slipping. It’s giving “old campground rec center”. I gave it 2 star for what it has to offer (basketball court, pool,etc) . I take 3 stars away for cleanliness 😮💨 and what not. I looked forward to the sauna but there is what appears to be mold growing on the walls, mold on the floors, random towels and rags hanging all over the place, and it smells weird. I left feeling icky 😵💫😵💫. The locker room has crap everywhere and it’s just needs some TLC. It’s random items in the hallways collecting dust and just looks like an unfinished/abandoned project. It was random furniture in the hallways when I went there years ago. I hope whoever replaces the director gets this place together because it has so much potential and could become a hidden gem. Or…it could go downhill and become another failed project. Good Management is everything!
Wilmerding Community Center meets all my needs! It is the best place and we older water people make a great team. During the water classes, we make sure everyone has room to enjoy the classes and we show the new people what to do or what equipment to get for the classes. We dance to the beat and we get rid of our aches and pains. We are such an amazing team. I am blessed to have found WCC. At the gym with Dawn is also a fantastic opportunity to exercise, socialize and create new friendships. Thank you Wilmerding! 😉
Lots of friendly people here. I hope it finds a way to stay open. Unfortunately, the pool is often too crowded and even when it's not, there are SOME entitled people who refuse to share space. Still a really good place with good people.
The water classes and instructors are good, but watch out for the mean older women in the classes. They think they own the pool and tell you where you should go and what you should do. I wish people were nicer and would try and get along. Whoever gets there early and gets a spot should not be forced to move because someone else feels untitled.
