What Parents Say
Parents praise the YMCA's facilities, friendly and caring staff, and diverse programs. The facility is noted as clean, well-maintained, and affordable with income-based pricing. Swim lessons and aquatics programs receive particular recognition for quality instruction.
It was so much fun I had a great time playing basketball. Also the basketball courts were very nice and the YMCA was very clean. I would like to go swimming there with my Tuesday mentor sometime that would be a lot of fun. So maybe next time we can go swimming there I haven't did that in a long time.
I took a CPR course here and was really disappointed. I was the only first time student, while everyone else were nurses renewing their certification. The instructor, Lee, mainly used advanced medical terminology and acronyms without explaining them, which made it very hard for me to follow as a beginner. Even more concerning, she admitted at the end that she forgot to teach about choking/Heimlich but brushed it off like it didn’t matter and it ended up being a decent amount of the final test. I failed the course I think but never received a follow up email. I tried emailing both the instructor and the YMCA for clarification or even a chance to retake (as I’ve read some places offer discounts for that), but I never got a reply from either. It really felt like this class was only designed for people renewing, not for new learners, and the lack of care and communication afterward was very frustrating.
Love the Y for working out and swimming but do NOT send your child there for summer camp. 140 kids there and not enough supervision. It’s all about money and not about safety. it’s a bunch of teenagers that have no clue how to mentally or emotionally handle a kid . Highly recommend you stay away from camp Noah wetzel road YMCA.
Such a beautiful place to enjoy so many different activities. You'll be hooked. A world full of diversity and fun !! Aquatics is my joy!
I went into join, but two things rubbed me the wrong way. One, they were going to charge me $36 for ONE week when the pool would be closed for that week. Second, they have a banner saying healthy living with Christian values hung next to the LQBTQ+ flag; which in the Christian Bible, speaks against. I love everyone and I don’t care what sex or what you identify as, but the hypocrisy between the two banners is wrong and it should be replaced by an American flag. Between that and the cost for someone who’s on disability, it was enough for me to take my business elsewhere.
