What Parents Say
Parents consistently praise this YMCA facility in Huntington for its cleanliness, modern amenities, and friendly staff. The center offers excellent facilities including pools, gym equipment, group classes, and activities for both children and adults. Reviews highlight the welcoming community atmosphere and well-maintained environment.
I had a disappointing experience at the YMCA of Huntington. The staff came across as rude and unwelcoming, which was surprising given the YMCA’s reputation for community and support. I was also disappointed to learn that they do not offer any military discounts or benefits, unlike many other gyms in the area that make an effort to support service members. On top of that, the staff felt overly pushy during the sign-up process, which made the experience uncomfortable rather than helpful. Overall, this location did not meet my expectations in terms of professionalism, customer service, or consideration for military members.
I love to go here. I swam today. The updates that they did on the pools are great! They are so clean, and the new windows and paint job are perfect! Also I love the Zumba classes! They fixed the shower pressure and it's so nice. The people that work there are very friendly and helpful.
Great place for family. Great place to meet friends. Lots of wonderful classes and activities, beautiful amenities. Plenty of equipment and clean, engaging atmosphere
The YMCA’s non discrimination statement states: “YMCA will take such reasonable steps as may be necessary to ensure that no individual with a disability is excluded, denied services, segregated or otherwise treated differently than other individuals because of the absence of auxiliary aids and services.” And yet. The YMCA has told individuals with developmental disabilities (NO PHYSICAL IMPAIRMENTS) that they can’t use the stationary bikes. 42 U.S.C. § 12182(a) of Title III of the Americans Disability Act prohibits discrimination based on disability in accessing the "full and equal enjoyment of the goods, services, facilities, privileges, advantages, or accommodations" of public accommodations. The Y is a recreational facilities and falls under this umbrella. The culture there is a reflection of the staff’s imposed limitations. Expect to be treated like an outsider when you pay membership fees too. If you are neurodivergent or love someone who is neurodivergent BE WARE before bringing them here. Shame on you Huntington Y
Nice gym. Classes are ok. Parking lot gets congested, but it’s free - so that’s a plus. People are friendly. Helpful. Kind. Cheerful.
