This YMCA is fine. The gym is adequate. The pool is fine for the kids to play. If you’re trying to swim the lanes in the evening forget about it. The new batch of life guards are not good. They are always looking at their phones instead of the pool and they continually pull the lane lines out while there are swimmers in the lanes absolutely unsafe! The pool area is dirty and I know they say they have cleaning crew but the pool floor is always disgusting both the deck and pool floor. And there are areas that have clearly not been cleaned recently.
Tried to open up a membership here the guy at the front counter could not have been ruder. I recommend going to any other YMCA. I’ve never had a front counter individual be so upset and rude in my entire life. I would drive an extra 20 minutes to not go to this location.
Dirty pool area, filthy, wet family changing rooms. Hot tub is always lukewarm. Tools, hoses, other equipment just laying around on the windowsills and floor posing tripping hazards. They even pulled the lane lines while people were still swimming, saw someone swimming run into free floating lane lines because they didn't bother to tell the swimmers to get out first. LOUD, obnoxious lifeguards in the evenings. Bunch of high schoolers smacking pool noodles on the ground as loud as they can, yelling at each other, playing, horsing around, blowing whistles at each other, socializing with each other instead of doing anything that resembles life guarding. They might pull their heads out of each other's rear ends and consider that other people are also in the pool area, it's not just their playpen.
I've attended the Geauga ymca for many years . Before I retired I went to the aquasize classes . Now I attend the older adult classes and aquasize . I also tried some yoga and have participated in some of their outings and fundraisers. Everyone is so friendly, staff and participants . They really try to meet the needs of the people in the community . I like have the structure of knowing there are classes everyday at a certain time. It gets me out of the house n get going .
Tai Chi allows me to breathe easier, stretch easier, and helps my balance. Yoga helps my balance and calmness. The various trips have been very interesting and enjoyable.
