Ymca - Durango Hills

Today was my first time going to this center and I live in the community. Honestly, front desk just wasn't that great. One was a young guy it seemed and very non character and the older lady with him looked at our group as if we were suspects when trying to get into the gym. Had a very strange and unwelcoming feeling. I don't think I'll be getting my kids memberships here now because if the front desk seemed like that, who knows how they act behind the scenes

This has been the worst experience ever! Had a birthday party planned a month on advanced, paid for and 20min before the party they tell me they have to cancel my party and close the pool. Not to mention I had been there for almost 2hrs prior setting up for the party and not once did they mention there was an issue. I told them I had 50 people coming to this set party and all they would say is "so sorry". Not let me see how I can fix this, let me find you a solution, nothing! They later offered me a class room with crafts for a birthday party that was supposed to be at the pool. I had to ask about maybe accommodating me at another location. The pool manger said she would call around and told me she found me a place at Centennial YMCA. I move everything get there and they said they had no room, no available space or table or chairs for me just the pool access which is NOT what was said to me at YMCA durango. Even staff at the YMCA Centennial said durgango is unreliable!! DO NOT PLAN YOUR BIRTHDAY HERE! they will leave you hanging dry with no solution. They dont plan ahead for parties, they weren't staffed which is why they couldn't open. No back up plan, nothing!! TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! didn't even get a refund at the time, but I will fight for that as they didn't provide any services!!

Great place to get your kids and yourself into sports. They also have a work out gym, a variety of classes, and pools.

Never again! I talked with the pool manager and the front desk and no one was helpful. First off-to do the diving board or the slide you have to take a swim test. You have to swim the whole length of the pool without taking any breaks on your back or anything (which already makes me upset because they teach that in their swim lesson classes!) The lifeguard watched my little 6 year old swim across the pool and then at the end told me she couldn’t pass and get a wristband because she went under and touched the bottom of the pool and came back up (she’s tiny and can’t even touch the bottom of the pool) they told her she could retest in a few minutes but of course she is too tired. The real problem is EVERY other time we have been she has gotten a wristband!!! Then i sat there and watched as all the lifeguards gossiped about me being angry (and my kids overheard in the pool) The pool manager gave me crap about how swim lessons teach survival and this is not what they need to go off the diving board or slide. Hmmm I thought the whole point was to not drown?? Then i went to front office and immediately they said memberships are non-refundable and there is nothing i can do.

It's the Y. So very nice at this location. Try all the classes you can. Especially if your a senior. They are so helpful. Try the Laugh Yoga Class. It's only once a month, but it's sooo Beneficial to every part of your body.
