What Parents Say
Reviews praise the YMCA Cross Island facility for its cleanliness, friendly staff, and diverse amenities including pools, gym equipment, and recreational activities. Parents appreciate the good value, competitive pricing compared to luxury gyms, and ongoing facility renovations. The center is noted as reliable and well-maintained with attentive lifeguards and staff assistance.
Amazing facility. Pool, basketball, gym, cardio, functional fitness, and many classes. The locker rooms are clean, and there is a separate family locker room if you have young ones with you.
I've had a mixed experience with the YMCA. While I don't participate in personal training here, I do appreciate the facility for certain amenities. I go to a different gym for my personal training, where I find the environment and offerings to be better suited for my needs. Additionally, I train at a martial arts gym, which I really enjoy. One aspect I do utilize at the YMCA is the shower facilities. They are convenient and well-maintained, making it easy for me to freshen up after my workouts. Overal, while the YMCA has its positives, my main focus is elsewhere in terms of personal training and gym activities.
Its got a nice facility but its not an inclusive Y, doesnt participate in programs like ailver sneakers, you have to be able to afford for your kids to attend programs, grants are minimal. Caters solely to the lower middle class. Ive always been budgeted out of this Y and even more so now as a disabled person on a fixed income. I would describe this Y as snobby.
Staff was really friendly and helpful. Facilities were very nice and clean.
This review is for the main lap pools...I've been using the main lap pools at the Cross Island Y for about a month during the summer without any problems. The pool can get crowded at certain times but manageable as long as other swimmers know the etiquette of sharing lanes. The pools are relatively clean and comfortably heated. The men's locker room maybe dated but is clean as well. Best time to go for lap swimming is during the 11am -1pm time period when it's not too busy...
