Ymca Children'S Academy At University Park

I'm so happy I found this daycare for my 2.5 y.o son The location is wonderful and I feel it is in a very safe area considering all of the nearby college campus security The staff are all so helpful and my son, who is a Mama's boy, is very excited to go to school everyday I love getting updates while I'm working letting me know my baby is having a great day. They provide yummy lunches and snacks so I'm not tasked with packing a ton of food every morning I highly suggest this daycare! also if you're a single parent, the YMCA nearby offers income restricted prices and it helps a ton on childcare expenses if you qualify. I've paid almost double for childcare with less interaction from the teachers due to overpopulated classrooms. This center is really a hidden gem!

I have been sending my children to this daycare for years. Over time changes have been made to the daycare and along with it many obvious issues and concerns that have been difficult to look past. I also found it odd when I announced my decision to leave the Director Ta'Nia never inquired as to why or expressed any concerns. In fact, the only question I received is if I had made my monthly payment. That was a big red flag and I knew I made the right decision. The assistant Lailah who sits at the front desk, I was never partial to and she clearly didn't care, as I've never gotten a vibe that she cares about anything regarding the kids/daycare. (Something I have voiced) For example, my son experienced a sensitive issue there in which she was in charge while the director was out. Never once did she apologize for the matter or express accountability. Another red flag. I'm certain Ta'Nia will have a difficult time keeping staff there due to her energy and moves (like putting a teenager in charge of a daycare in any capacity). Which is sad b/c there are great teachers there, but there was also constantly subs. I wouldn't say don't bring your child here, but it is not what it once was when the previous director was there and so for me and my family it was no longer the right choice.

My son and I love this place. He has been attending since January and is in the Toddler 1 class. The teachers and staff are absolutely wonderful. They are so very caring and provide a structured, well-rounded curriculum. So far there have been ~10 kids in his class but some days there are only 4-5 which makes personal education possible. The facility is always clean and organized. The playground is not as "lush" as some facilities, but the learning environment and wonderful staff make up for it 10x over. :)

Worst daycare facilities. They have a new manager name Tania. What I don’t understand is how you start working here but don’t even know what is going on. She tried to say that I didn’t pay for month of October and when I asked to speak with Sandy she didn’t let me and she said she was unavailable. Then after maybe 5 minutes of arguing then she looks at the account again then says sorry I got the dates mixed up. It was more to the story but she clearly didn’t show any empathy at all. I can’t stand when people are not on the same page and then they try to say they understand what we are going through and they don’t because most people haven’t even been through a tough time like me. And then Sandy seemed like she was trying to blamed everything on Ami instead of taking some of the responsibility too because she never told me that the $30 fee was included in the $156. The only reason my kids are still attending is because my mother works there so I know she will look out for her grandchildren but once I get a car, I will definitely get my kids transferred to another daycare because this is ridiculous. Then one more things Tania said she had to get permission to give me her boss Elizabeth information but she so dumb or maybe she just doesn’t want to get in trouble but Elizabeth already gave out her information in the brightwheel app. Smh all I know is that The new lady Tania and Sandy need to do better because this is ridiculous.

this day care means the world to us, the way the staff care and connect with my daughter everyday brings me so much peace of mind. this site is so lovely, safe and secure. i love that even for my little one year old they provide structured lessons, go for walks and engage so much with her! i just can not say enough good things about the hard working team that shows up and shows out all the time! thank you!
