What Parents Say
YMCA Child Care Center in Round Rock has received highly polarized reviews. Most parents praise the caring staff, educational activities, cleanliness, and individual attention to children, with many highlighting specific teachers by name. However, a minority of parents report serious concerns about staff intolerance for typical children's behavior, inadequate communication with parents about behavioral issues, and abrupt dismissals without proper notice or solutions.
I will echo another recent review of this place in that if your 2 or 3 year old kid doesn’t have adult manners or if they have too much energy, Mrs. Raye, the new director, will deem your child uncontrollable. We had issues with our 3 year old having expected 3 year old behavior so they put them in a small classroom to see if they react better. Within the second week of being in the new class, they called us that they were being kicked out of daycare. We were not given any chance of having the last week we already paid for to enroll into a new daycare. They treated my 3 year old child like they were a troubled teenager that was impossible to control. It’s odd that the behaviors they kept seeing were not behaviors seen at home and we were even given observation time so they could “prove” their allegations. Instead, our kid acted normal and other kids were the ones being aggressive. If you have a child that moves too much, don’t enroll them here because staff members are not willing to deal with kids that don’t sit still all day. All of these issues only started once Mrs Raye came around. Prior to this, none of his teachers had concerns about my my child’s behavior.
Every year we deal with some kid telling us our child is either being suspended or dinged because they are not in the business of managing kids who get over excited and do kid things. If your kid is not someone who sits in one place, has adult manners, or doesn’t deviate from lessons this place is not for you or your child. This is suppose to be an afterschool program for kids but they do not tolerate kids playing, making mistakes, or not listening the 1st or 2nd time, they will collect your money then immediately suspend them for one ding. Hate this place!!
Absolutely love the YMCA. Our first experience was afterschool care when my son was in Kindergarten. The director was Ms. Alex. She was incredible helpful, informative, kind, active, and patient. My son still talks about her and the impact she had on him. She cared for the kids individually and catered the their individual needs. She helped my son grow in his confidence and became a better student for it. I will forever be grateful for her. I had no idea what to expect from the afterschool program at a new school when my son entered 1st grade. I wondered if maybe we had just gotten lucky at our last school with Ms. Alex. On the contrary, Mr. Zach has completely blown us out of the water. He’s incredibly energetic, enthusiastic, fun, bold, creative, kind - above and beyond the expectations once again. He gives me feedback every day on my child’s behavior/ emotions when I pick him up. He has specific activities planned for the kids on a regular basis, he’s truly taken the time to get to know my child and we’re only about a month into school. My son has so much fun at the YMCA every single time. I can’t express how grateful I am to have him in their care.
2nd year using YMCA after school care. Ours is located at the school my son attends so it's easy and close. This year they changed the lead teacher and she is awesome. Both teachers are kind and work with the children a lot. I have seen an improvement in my son and the joy when talking about it. Thank y'all.
I LOVED this place and would recommend it to everyone interested in childcare. I have my son here and the entire staff is AMAZING they are very clean before the pandemic and during. They are extremely meticulous and treat the kids with respect (not easily found in child care) The atmosphere no matter what time i chose to pop up was always very relaxing and welcoming. The kids where always doing something keeping them entertained, calm and mindful. The craziest room would be the infant room and that is only because the babies cry to communicate. awesomazing place please do yourself and your child good and put them here for peace of mind while you work. They even send pictures and videos
