The camp is lovely. The staff were great with the kids and kept everyone on schedule:) If you are coming from K42 on 71st St. I will warn there is NO sign at the entrance.
Don't let the pics and descriptions fool you...if you think your kid is going to do all those neat things pictured in ads all week you're wrong, they only get to do the big slide and other activities that are special to this camp ONCE a week, and often cancel them for various reasons whether staff, malfunctions, weather etc. And then they aren't made up. Horse back riding isn't even offered unless you're in the extra cost frontier camp. Camp fires? Never. Fun interactive music or plays? Nope. Theme weeks are only to look good on paper, and really they do nothing special for them. The camp is over crowded and under staffed to make it anything but a mass kid crowd moving exercise all day long. When they aren't standing or sitting and waiting on the staff who's busy talking or goofing off among themselves to get a move on for the next activity, Kids spend most their time playing group games like tag and if your kid doesn't like it too bad they just stand watching the other kids play. For hours. Also, remember that your children are going to be there with YMCA summer daycare clients from across the Wichita metro, as well as complete strangers, unless you coordinate and send them with a friend or two that's their exact age.
My kids love summer camp here. Horse frontier camp is so awesome for them
It was filthy. Nothing was open. The pool looked nice. Most of the other stuff looked run down.
