What Parents Say
YMCA Afterschool at Cheviot receives overwhelmingly positive reviews from most parents, with praise for staff professionalism, communication, and child development. However, one parent expressed serious concerns about neglect, abuse, and management issues, while another found the program to be primarily babysitting-focused.
I love this daycare! I’ve never had any issues! They’re very informative and communicative and fun! If there’s anything going around they’ll let you know asap to keep an eye on your children as well and if something is going on with your child they’ll call you to inform you. The staff is amazing, sweet, and loves to work with children and it shows. At my kids last daycare I had so many issues! My kids were always sick, they were closed a lot, they didn’t like to be there, and very unprofessional. This place is a total 360 compared to that! My kids are hardly ever sick anymore and they love to come here which is a great thing for any child! 100% recommend!
My oldest son has been going here since he was roughly 10 months old. He’s currently 3 and will be turning 4 in November. And now my youngest son attends he is 6 months old and started going when he was 8 weeks old. Every staff member I have contact with is fantastic. If I ever have concerns the director and assistant director handle them quickly and professionally. I will always highly recommend them.
As a parent speaking to other parents- do NOT send your children here. They will neglect and borderline abuse your children. They do not teach their children. There are a few great staff members that suffer at the hands of management. There is a lot of nepotism with children who belong to staff being allowed to seriously harm other children with no consequence. They are not honest with their parents. The sooner they are shut down the better, I pray for the children who attend this daycare.
My daughters love their teacher. She has been a teacher there for at least 4 years and I know that my children are learning and growing in an environment that cares for their wellbeing. It’s rare to find a place in Cincinnati that really cares for each child and prioritizes them. The number of times I’ve walked in to pick up my daughters and they’ve not wanted to leave Youthland is immeasurable.
I have had 2 of my children come home stating that members of the staff physically harmed them. The first happened a few months back. My son's wrist was twisted and because they handled the situation and terminated the worker I let my kids stay. A few days ago my 3 year old told me that a teacher pinched him. I let the staff know immediately however they stated after viewing the cameras it didn't look aggressive. Needless to say I am searching for a new facility. This center should do a better job at screening workers before hiring them. Nothing is worse than feeling uneasy at work because you're worried about the safety of your kids. Will definitely be contacting state as well.
