This school has been an incredible blessing for our child and us. Joshua couldn’t go up and down the stairs when he started attending Harry Gordon. He was verbal, but his vocabulary was minimal. He began with Ms. Marlene, Ms. Somar, Ms. Liz, Ms. Lakia, and Ms. Talysha. This group of teachers is the star team. The staff is very professional, patient, kind, and strict. From the nurse, the gym teacher, the speech therapist, and the occupational therapist, Joshua started in 3k, did pre-k, and graduated to kindergarten. I thank God every day that we found out about this school. I feel that this school doesn’t get the recognition that it deserves. I could go to work daily and feel at ease knowing my son was in the best hands. Seeing my son's progress, I couldn't be more grateful. I highly recommend this school!! This school will transform your child's life. It will give you hope and will help you not to give up! Only God can diagnose your child, and having this group of trained teachers who care will show your child's potential to overcome any of these challenges. THANK YOU!!!!

My son entered in this school 2022 -2023 school year to start their 3k program everything went great his teacher Ms.Sue and Ms.Marisol were amazing (they're the best part of this school) . Come 2023-2024 school year i enrolled my daughter for the same 3k program while my son moved up to 4k to Ms.Caryol ann and Ms Jackies class (Amazing educators as well). I was literally harassed weekly during the school year of 2023-2024 by the school nurse Robin with phone calls regarding my children's health she would call and asked for them to be picked up for petty and minor things MONDAY 3-11-2024 around 9:30am I received a call stating my daughter looked as if she had pink eye and she needed to be picked up and i was questioned about a scratch by her eye . I let them know the scratch happened at chuck E cheese Sunday and to ask both children. She calls me back at around 11 am with the NEW social worker VICTORIA CARIDAD (who has been the social worker for about a week while the MAIN SOCIAL WORKER LAUREN is out on leave) on the line stating they called ACS on me because my daughter came to school saying "mommy hit me" and now my daughter does not need to be picked up because it looks as if the "PINK EYE" went away. NOW school starts at 8:05 if this "mommy hit me " was a concern why didn't she call and say that from the start of the school day ? This ACS call was retaliation because I advised ROBIN ill call her back and let her know if someone would be picking her up (because as stated above ROBIN calls for little things that does not require the child to be picked up) I KNOW MY DAUGHTER DID NOT HAVE PINK EYE So I went to pick up both of my children at 11:40am and upon arriving my son tells me they lifted up his shirt and pulled down his pants to check for marks and bruises .My son also stated that VICTORIA CARIDAD squeezed his hand and asked him a ton of questions he was getting confused basically she coerced him into saying whatever she wanted so she can have a reason to call ACS on me . Now my son is 4 and my daughter is 3 children do make things up and they also play and can get minor cuts and/or bruises. SINCE 2022 MY CHILDREN HAVE NEVER CAME TO SCHOOL BRUISED BATTERED OR BEATEN this ACS CALL WAS COMPLETELY UNNECCSARY HOWEVER THIS WAS RETALIATION AND A WOMAN (VICTORIA CARIDAD )TRYING TO SOLIDIFY HER NEW POSITION LONG STORY SHORT STAY AWAY !!!!!!!!

3/21/23-School Tour. This was my third tour. I went To Adapt Community Network on Stillwell, the main Site and another special education school on Westchester. Unfortunately the Adapt on Stillwell had mostly 12:1's and crazy thing is because I fell in love with that school, but hey! They say third time is the charm right! I was recommended to the second location of Adapt Community network which is on Bath gate ave. This is a more smaller settings with mostly 8:1's for children with more severe sensory and need a lot more extra assistance. My son Has Full Autism so Let me automatically say from just walking in, you are greeted with welcoming personalities. I loved how the staff I came across were all very sweet, greeted with hello, and just gave off kindness. Even the bus driver greeted me and my son looking forward to seeing us. So with being said I chose this school for my son. I think this would be a wonderful fit and setting for him. They have a lot of resources, therapies, for your child. Including ABA, Feeding therapies, psychologist's, PT,OT, a variety of structured setting for your child like gym, play instructor, All kinds of sensory tools, toys, etc. They provide lunch as most pre-k schools do not. They are very thorough on communication including with bussing. They will reassure about any information you want to know, or your concerns. They will update you on any thing that may transpire when your child is on the bus so you won't be alarmed if another child reacts through behavior toward your child meaning hitting, or whatever the situation may be, you'll be informed automatically. The school also has an app to keep up all updates in regards on what's going in the classrooms, and how your child is doing. They also do have Teacher/Teacher assistants that do walks with your child and the class. You have a preference whether your comfortable in letting your child go outside or remain inside the school building. They do not nap time but technically most of the kids still fall asleep at some point which is totally OK. I know this is just a tour review but as parents we have pretty good instincts in knowing what is best or what would be the best setting for our children. I just knew Adapt was my son calling. He got recommended to Adapt Community a few times only to know that I still did make a great choice and I certainly do want to give a full school update later this year just to review progress even if it is small. I still recommend this school. Parents, get a feel and observation of your own as we all have different opinions but so far I believe this is a pretty good school. Best of luck/Patience to all of The parents doing their very best in finding the right special education school for their children.
