YDI Headstart in Espanola has mostly positive reviews praising the friendly and amazing staff. However, one parent reported serious concerns including a teacher being mean to their 2-year-old daughter, behavioral changes in the child, inadequate bathroom supervision, and poor curriculum quality.
I am extremely disappointed with our experience at this pre-K. My daughter is only 2 years old and since starting here, I have noticed several concerning changes in her behavior. She tells me that one of the teachers is mean ms Laverne, and she has become much more emotional at home. She has started flinching and seems anxious, often rushing when putting on her shoes or jacket, which is not like her at all. She used to be very comfortable and confident. Another major concern was brought to my attention by the supervisor, Loretta, who told me my daughter was in the bathroom for about half an hour!! For a child that young, being left alone that long is extremely alarming and unacceptable. Additionally, I have not been impressed with the curriculum or overall quality of care and communication from this school. Because of these concerns, I will be disenrolling my daughter. I am sharing my experience so other parents can make informed decisions when considering childcare options.
