I love this school. My daughter loves going to school and seeing her friends, the staff knows all the kids and treats everyone like one big family. A special shout out to Ms. Ashley for being one of the best teachers out there, my little girl looks forward to school every day knowing she'll be there!
I was thrilled to find WOK for my son halfway through his kindergarten year. He had been home with me and hadn't attended daycare so needed to "learn how to school". With such a wonderful, nurturing environment in Ms. Janice's class he easily adapted to her classroom rules. I feel mostly because the direction she gave was given in the most positive of ways. I would soon learn that this was the philosophy amongst all the teachers and staff. My son has flourished under their tutelage and loves attending school now! I recommend it highly!
My kids have attended world of knowledge for a few years now. The staff and students are all like one big family. People look out for each other there. The school is very good at handling situations with kiddos in a respectful manner. They work with you (and the kids) when you advocate for your needs. My kids love world of knowledge. Also, they not only teach academics but life/social skills as well. I appreciate everyone over at WOK. ❤️
My family has had a relationship with World of Knowledge Montessori School since 2009 when I enrolled my oldest grandson into VPK. It was a warm, nurturing environment for a child that had been through some challenging circumstances in his young life. He thrived and did well through VPK and Kindergarten. Then he was enrolled in the public school system by his mom because she felt he should be in the larger school system rather than a small private school. He attended public school all the way through 7th grade, and then with his grades dropping, WOK encouraged me to bring him back. So in 8th grade he returned and is now a Junior in their High School program, successfully working to complete credits for graduation next year. He has a very good relationship with his teacher, Miss Kristie, and she motivates him to do his best. During the years he was at public school, I had enrolled his younger brother at WOK as a toddler in 2013 at the age of 2. While there is no longer a toddler program at the school, my grandson was one of the lucky ones to benefit from the program, so he has been a student there ever since and is now a successful 4th grader. His teacher Miss Tara, came to us as an experienced Montessori-trained teacher several years ago, also having been a Montessori student herself in her young years. She has high standards and pushes the students to achieve and develop to their best ability. I have always appreciated the fact that the teachers at WOK really care about their students. It has always felt more like a family because the smaller size classes allow more one-on-one attention for the students. The Montessori method encourages students of different ages to work with and support one another, as the classrooms are divided into VPK 4-5 year old children, Kindergarten and 1st grade, taught by Ms. Janice, a long-time wonderful teacher at WOK whom everyone loves, 2nd-4th graders in Miss Tara's Lower Elementary class, and Ms Courtney Irby's Upper Elementary class of 5th and 6th graders, along with her Physical Education classes for all the students, then the Middle School class, and the High School class. My grandsons have done very well at the school and I feel they have the personalized attention that this smaller private school offers. Affordability is not a problem for many of the families, including mine, as we are able to attend by the granting of the Step Up For Students scholarship, and another scholarship (Gardner, I believe) for special needs students. If you are looking for a conscientious, caring environment for your child(ren), this is a school you should seriously consider. When the school went through some personnel challenges five years ago, and some families left depending on loyalties, I, who had actually been the only parent witness to an incident that a teacher was fired for, but then it was claimed by that teacher there was no reason for firing, the school did take a hit and received some negative reviews. There was a reason for firing in my opinion. So without dredging up details, I will say that instead of fleeing like some did, I believed in the school and the people that I knew truly cared. We stood strong and fought to overcome what had happened. With the retirement of the previous owner came the opportunity for the new owners, Joe and Nicole Maulucci, whose two sons have been WOK students, and also had new visions of what they wanted to make of WOK. They are always working towards ways to improve the school and support the families they serve, along with the help of our fine and devoted Director, Ms.Tonya Ryan. With the challenges of Covid-19 this past year, they stood up to the challenges presented to us all and made it possible to accomplish virtual learning last spring, and then with the start of the new school year in August, 2020, provided both the in-school learning and the virtual learning depending on what parents wanted for their students. I feel our students didn't miss a beat with their educations and I commend the commitment put forth by everyone. Job well done!! Thank you WOK!
we have been at this school since my son is in kindergarten and he is going into 5th this school year. my son started with a speech delay and he is now confident in his reading and loves school. about three years ago the school did go through some staff changes, but it never affected the quality of the education. this is a top notch school with quality teachers, a family environment.
