In my forty plus years of congregational consultation. I have never experience a church as warm, welcoming, open and caring as this. The members' political views are all over the map, but they all respect and love one another. The pastor is considered the best preacher in the Presbytery and never fails to deliver. There is active mission work and the Women's Bible Study is provocative and challenging. The after worship fellowship is terrific. This is the best church for many miles around. Rev. Built my eagle scout project here. Have worked with them throughout my scouting years. They always are willing to host court of honors and meetings. I love the establishment. Amazing community and amazing people. I am grateful to have donated my project to such a worthy place. Lovely area to host events. Pavilion+Restrooms+Fire pit!
I joined Woodlawn several years ago after moving to the area. I have found the congregation to have the closeness of a small family, yet incredibly welcoming of anyone that walks through the door. It may not have the fancy show of a modern megachurch, but every service is a celebration of life and God's love and I leave there with a feeling of inner peace and renewed spirit. And they manage to find some of the most incredible local guest musical talent that I've ever heard. They make positive steps to break down barriers between race and other religions by providing educational sessions outside of the regular services. They also have an onsite Mom's Day Off daycare center, an active Women's Bible Study group, youth groups, and a wonderful facility with a pavilion and ample green space. If you're looking for an open and accepting community to worship with, this is the place.
This is the most welcoming and accepting congregation I have ever encountered. My personal experiences with this church have been ones of love for All people, regardless of their race, their religion, their orientation, special needs, physical limitations, etc. Few can compare to the exemplary people of this church.
It always feels like coming home and being surrounded by family when worshipping with Woodlawn. You can feel God’s love all around, and the acceptance of everyone, no matter who they are, race, gender, sexual orientation, or their relationship with God. Woodlawn is a great place to worship and I have yet to find another church like it.
