What Parents Say
Woodland Early Childhood Center receives mostly positive reviews praising dedicated, consistent staff who treat children like family and maintain clean facilities. However, some parents report concerns about administration responsiveness, safety issue handling, facility maintenance, and unprofessional phone communication.
If I could leave a one star review I would I just called to inquire about daycare possibilities for my daughter and the lady who answered sounded absolutely terrible. She told me to "call back in the morning when the director is here" and hung up the phone. As a Christian single mother and was very enthusiastic to see a daycare in a church that accommodates school children this was highly highly disappointing. I also work customer service and I know that when you answer the phone and have first contact with a consumer to sound delighted and professional. She sounded miserable and fed up with her job. I also know that places are busy so she could have taken my number down and asked about my child's age and the school she goes to. But no. My first impression of this daycare left a weird taste in my mouth and left me feeling uncomfortable. I would not want my child anywhere near that lady.
Drop-off & Pick-up - This is absolutely the most well-planned and well-executed part of the Woodland Academy experience. Kudos to whomever planned this system out. Culture - If you want a school family who runs on favoritism, and folks to gossip and slander about you or another person who just left the room, this place is for you. Safety & Security - If you want to hear parents complain and approach administration continually about safety and security, from building security to bullying, while none of such issues are addressed properly or reported to authorities, come experience the inaction for yourselves. Teachers - Many teachers were patient, loving, and worked in small reading groups. Classrooms were neat and welcoming. There were however some teachers who gave many worksheets for kids to complete during class while they were scrolling on their phones. Administration - If you want a principal who does not hold children (or parents) accountable for their actions, does not wish to address things properly or in a competent and logical manner, plays favorites, and where the principal and other administrators are not on the same page on pressing issues, look no further than Woodland. Classmates - If you want your children placed with many kids who have been quietly held back, and your children are unnecessarily taking their curriculum and at their pace instead of being academically challenged, this is where your kids should be. Building Maintenance - If you like hearing from your children that some classrooms smell of mold, or the roof is frequently worked on and in need of proper repair, this is the right place. The best news was finding that a new playground was unnecessarily built years prior instead of having invested in a new or properly repaired roof. Many fellow parents and children have loved their experience at Woodland, as it served as a strong impetus to pursue education elsewhere - like at Bradenton Christian School.
As someone who has been here ever since 1st grade, and has now graduated and has moved on to 9th grade, I can say that I had an overall amazing experience here in both in the elementary and middle school. The teachers are very friendly and helpful, and the students are mostly friendly and welcoming. There were only a few instances where I got into conflict with a few students, but the teachers came in and helped to resolve those instances very quickly. The only real downside for me is that the school is a bit small. Due to that, there is less diversity and less options for friend groups. But that is what you would expect in a private school this size, so I’m not really complaining. But all that aside, the classes are pretty good. The teachers set up activities and lesson plans for the students to participate and engage in, and we do group activities and some solo ones as well. The teachers (in middle school at least) prioritize a specific time of the day for an advisory meeting, where we do group building activities and a lecture. To conclude, if your looking for a good, small, private Christian school for your child, then this is a very good choice for your child. I would definitely recommend this school.
We love and trust them . My children started at 2 and 3 y.o. ( now 7/8) . Most of their teachers are the same. Keeping staff says a lot about an organization. My children love them. Children aren’t just numbers to them . They are like family . We will forever be grateful to the Woodland teachers for watching over our kids , when we can’t .
Great preschool program! I am very happy with my daughters teachers and the staff. She is learning so much!
