My kiddo on his third birthday was asked to leave the school because he was not potty trained. He simply was NOT ready at the time. They forced it on him around 2.5 and told me it was my fault for not getting him there despite the time and money spent trying to find the method that worked for him. The potty training teacher would tell me how stubborn my child was and how he refused to even try, again at less than three at the time. I fear her tactics were aggressive and actually set us back because he had showed an interest before that room. The team wanted to move us into the next room to make space for other kids to join the school. I stressed my concerns and was assured Shame was not a tactic used and instead that it was us at home not doing enough and that it was a state requirement to have him potty trained by 3. Now that he is almost 4 and in public preschool and RECENTLY starting to successfully potty train I have learned that this State requirement is NOT true, that it the daycares way of getting more kids to enroll. It’s a state requirement to have changing areas, not that my child needs to be potty trained by 3. I was really sad that this was their response because they do offer a lot of really great experiences for the kids AS LONG AS THEY ARE POTTY TRAINED. This was the start of a very stressful road for my family since this is our only child. Wisdom has taught me kids go when they are ready and supported. I caution you if you need these types of services go elsewhere. If your kid is potty trained by all means this facility is great!
Nothing like the feeling of peace knowing your children are well cared for when they are not with you. Wooden shoe is more than a day care, it's a home away from home. they are efficient, safe, the staff is all super lovely. my kids have been there now 3 years and I love every teacher they've had. it's a personal experience, everyone knows you kid's name and makes eye contact and says hi. the curriculum is great, I can tell me kids are learning. staff promptly communicates any concerns in a loving manner. they're administration team is great and I feel the checkin/checkout is very safe. there's not enough good things to say about the wooden shoe. I have felt blessed beyond measure and thank the good Lord often that my kids go here.
I am delighted to share my experience with the Wooden Shoe daycare center. As a single father, I have to drive 45 minutes each way to drop off and pick up my 3-year-old son, and it has been worth it because of the exceptional care he receives from the staff. The communication with the teachers has been great, and they have been very accommodating to my work schedule in the science and engineering field. They have developed a great curriculum for my son, which has helped him grow and develop over the two years he has been attending the daycare center. Being a single father can be challenging, but the staff at Wooden Shoe have made it absolutely wonderful for me and my son. I am grateful for the care, attention, and love they have given my son. They have truly gone above and beyond to make sure he is happy, safe, and well-cared for. I highly recommend the Wooden Shoe daycare center to anyone looking for a top-quality daycare center for their child. The staff is kind, caring, and professional, and they create a warm and welcoming environment for both parents and children. Thank you, Wooden Shoe, for all that you do!
This is an odd review, because I am posting it almost 20 years late. I went to the Wooden Shoe as a child, and what I remember most of all is that every time I would “snitch” on another kid for hitting or hurting me (or if another kid snitched on me), the people who were running the pre-school would pull us aside and make us hurt the other one back. I remember one time they made me hit my friend on the head, and another time they made a girl pinch me back. Besides that, I remember they did teach us manners, and had a cool pool that we learned to use kick boards in, which gives it a couple of stars. I truly hope they’ve changed their styles
The Wooden Shoe is fantastic! My 3 year old loves it! Miss. MacKenzie is amazing! They offer swimming lessons and have such fun holiday events planned. I love that they do field days, tractor rides for Halloween and go on field trips. We are so blessed to have found this amazing school!
