My boys went to Wirtzie's for 3 years and we absolutely loved it. The teachers are so loving and kind. I absolutely loved that they are connected with the seniors and had dedicated days for the children to visit with 'grandmas and grandpas'. This is a special child care center and I highly recommend them!
I've had 3 children in Wirtzie's over the past 8 years! I wouldn't trust anyone else with my children to care for them other than family. The patience they have with children is amazing and heart warming. I also love the great nutritious meals that are cooked for the kids onsite at Birt's Bistro. As well as the curriculum they follow! Every week I receive pictures of my child's week and fun projects she worked on and that alone is always so awesome to see. My child can now talk more and is fully potty trained thanks to the teachers consistency. Her manners are even better and every week she is thriving and learning new things ! I just love and appreciate everyone at Wirtzie's Thank you !!
I love the teachers here - they're awesome. The receptionists are also amazing at their job. My issue is mainly with the Asst. Director as follows: My child was bit by another child in his class (12-24 months) twice (same child) during lunch prep both times. Bite 1: I saw he didn't eat his lunch on the app, and he loves what was served that day so I knew something wasn't right intuitively. I went to check on him and he was asleep so I didn't stick around. Everyone said he was okay. This was about 1-2 hours after he'd been bitten - NO ONE told me. I found out at the end of the day. Luckily, the bite didn't break the skin. Bite 2: I didn't suspect anything and didn't find out until I picked him up. However, the bite broke the skin. No nurse checked on his bite and I was not notified early enough to schedule an appointment that day with his doctor. Best practices state that I should be notified immediately since it broke the skin. I called his doctor first thing in the morning and scheduled an appointment that afternoon. I let Wirtzie's team know I'd be checking him out and may bring him back after his appointment. Even though his doctor's appointment was related to the bite, I was told I may be unable to take him back to the school after his appointment because that's when they start sending teachers home for the day and they may not have a high enough teacher:student ratio - even though I notified them ahead of time. He required antibiotics and a vaccine due to the bite since it broke the skin. When I went to pick up his bag (decided to keep him with me to spoil him a bit after his appointment), the assistant director made it a point to tell me they need a note with the stage of walking he is at since he's over 18 months and not walking yet. I'm still confused on what they want from a medical perspective because this doesn't make any practical sense especially considering his teachers can visually see how well he is walking when he is at school. Also, HIPAA protects me from having to share his medical information. (They have had him in the Wobblers class unofficially for the last 2-3 months and I had to beg for him to be added to the class in the app after the first biting incident so I could be notified if he were injured again. It didn't make a difference.) All of a sudden, the day after the biting incident, it's an issue that he doesn't have a doctor's note explaining why he hasn't started walking on his own yet even though his doctor is unconcerned and his teachers are unconcerned. I asked for a letter to provide the doctor with more or less stating the info the school was requesting and was told by the Assistant Director that they didn't have to provide me with a note and therefore would not provide me with one. The child that bit my son is still allowed to attend the school. This sounds super sketchy to me and also like retaliation, so in addition to posting this here, I've also filed a formal complaint. Edit September 2025: So far, he hasn't been bitten again. The school, with direction from DHS, helped to create the IP my son needed. Pretty much as soon as it was signed, my son started walking. Going forward, the school knows how to handle these paperwork issues thankfully.
My daughter was at Wirtzies from 12 weeks old, to 2 years old. I cried the day I dropped her off, but also the last day when I picked her up. The teachers, staff, director, and everyone that worked at the school loved my daughter. I was SO scared, as a first time mom leaving my daughter, but her infant teacher at the time, I can honestly say helped me become a mom. My daughter loved her teachers, and classmates- and yes there was turnover and for a minute I was nervous, but my daughter having that smile on her face everyday when I dropped her off helped me know she loved it there. 5 stars to Wirtzies, we love you!
I enjoyed learning about the history of this school, the front desk person was so helpful , as i needed to pick up my little one for my sister. The teacher was welcoming and very informative, about my little one’s day and what the days looked like. It was a very clean facility, and warm and welcoming, great experience!
