What Parents Say
Windsor Academy has a mixed reputation with dramatically conflicting reviews. Several long-term parents praise the staff, Pre-K program, and caring environment, but serious safety and management concerns have been raised, including a child abuse investigation resulting in arrests of three staff members in 2024.
I have had 3 children go through Windsor Academy since 2016. The staff is amazing. I have been very appreciative and impressed with their Pre K program which greatly prepared my oldest for kindergarten. All staff I have interacted with are caring and professional. We have been very happy here! I would definitely recommend to friends and family! Beth S.
Looking for a child care facility for my 2 year old, definitely won't be looking into this place after seeing news of a child leg being broken, lied about and covered up failed attempt. Management would let them still be working there if never got caught. Poor children 😔 still there, hopefully are removed by parents and and this place is shut down! I would put no starts if Google allowed. Shame
If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. My child went here several years ago and it was not a pleasant experience. One example is the time I went to pick my child up and they could not find her. When they did find her (after 15 min of searching) they realized she was at a part of the playground that had access to the parking lot. Don’t trust these people with your kids! Follow your gut instincts always!
I would never ever recommend this faculty to anyone looking. They offer zero help or communication to new students families. They expect you to ask all the right questions instead of offering a tour, offering to meet the teacher, offering a newsletter. I know ABSOLUTELY nothing unless I asked for information. My child was there for 6 days before I was able to pull him out to an actual learning facility that communicated effectively. HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED
3 arrested in alleged child abuse case LEXINGTON, S.C. – Lexington County deputies have arrested three women in connection to a child abuse investigation at a child care center. Shayna Nicole McKnight, 36, is charged with infliction of great bodily harm upon a child, according to an arrest warrant. Amy Marie Grice, 38, and Jeannie H. Locklear, 49, are charged with obstructing justice. “This case started last month with a call to a child’s mother from Windsor Academy in Lexington,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “The daycare told the mother her child’s leg was hurt in the railing of a crib.” Doctors determined the child had a broken leg, according to Koon. “As part of our work on the investigation, detectives asked to review video from inside Windsor Academy,” Koon said. “Grice and Locklear told us the camera system wasn’t working when the child was injured. We eventually recovered the video and determined both women took steps to delete the video after they watched it. Those actions prompted the obstructing justice charges.” The recovered video shows McKnight forcefully folded the child’s legs under the child’s body and flipped the child into a crib while holding the child’s left leg, according to an arrest warrant. “Based on detectives’ review of the video, the child was crawling and playing without any visible pain before the incident, then crying and unable to put weight on the leg after the incident,” Koon said. Deputies arrested McKnight, Grice and Locklear Friday morning. They are being held in the Lexington County Detention Center. Koon said the South Carolina Department of Social Services is assisting with the investigation.
