What Parents Say
These reviews are not for a daycare center, but rather for the Westin Resort in Kaanapali, Hawaii. The reviews describe guest experiences at a luxury resort hotel, not a kids' club or school-based childcare facility.
We stayed here for 4 nights as part of our honeymoon and it was by far the highlight of the trip. We didn’t realize how lackluster the hotels we stayed at on Oahu and the Big Island were until we got here. We heard from a local that some hotels, like the Westin, reinvested in their properties during covid when things were down and it makes sense. It goes without saying that the property and its grounds are beautiful. We appreciated direct beach access and adult-only pools and hot tubs. Our room was upgraded upon check in and it seemed to have been newly renovated and fresh. Plenty of dining options, but our favorite was the outdoor bar (Hale Mo’olelo). They offered happy hour every day, the food was great, reasonably priced for a hotel ($9 for a domestic beer vs $12 at the Hilton we stayed at), and the service was the best part. Sean, Joel, and Junior at the bar were super friendly, engaged with guests, and got to know us by the end of the trip. We hope to come back in the future! We had a fantastic experience.
We had a trip Of a lifetime!!!! You can snorkel right outside of the resort just feet away when you step off the sand into the ocean. You will see the biggest turtles ever the best snorkeling I’ve done. Also, we stayed in the rooms where you get free on access to the lanai. so you can get free breakfast and dinner & sauna including with pools there also, highly recommend staying in the rooms where you get access to the lanai definitely worth it. We enjoyed lots of free classes making bracelets and flowers 🌼 Hawaiian lays , karaoke and the lanai was awesome and fun highly recommend this resort. They also have an arcade & splash pad and 2 slides into the pool if you have little ones.
We enjoyed our stay here. The staff were very accommodating by upgrading our room with a fee. They gave me a lei even though our room wasn't in the tower where they gave the lei. The bed was super comfortable and the views from our balcony was amazing. The negatives was the food poolside. I got the poke bowl and it was the worst poke I've ever had. My boyfriend got the fries and chicken wings, that was pretty tasty. We got a cabana on the beach and I think that was a mistake. The server barely came to check with us. My boyfriend had to walk back to pool area to figure out who our server was. The guy behind the bar asked who is taking care of the cabanas on the beach and the server replied he was but he was sitting by the bar on his phone. Also, there is a restaurant affiliated with the hotel, Ulu Kitchen by Merriman. We had a $60 credit for breakfast but their system was not working to charge to the room. We had to pay first and then we would get reimburse at the front desk. This was an inconvenience. Their spa was good. We got two deep tissue massages in the cabanas by the beach. The massage was good but pricey. We got to see some whales which was pretty cool. We would stay again but not order the cabana again.
We loved our time at this Westin! We are a couple in our 20s, no kids. I noticed some of the reviews made it seem like this is mainly for families with children but i felt there was a good variety here, some couples and some families. The staff was all super friendly, we had no issues here. One thing I wanted to point out is there is a $50 a day resort fee which we didn’t know about until we arrived here. The pools were super nice and beautiful. Room was nice, not super big but nice so no complaints. The beaches in hawaii are all public so they don’t have a specific area in the beach where beach chairs are available for free to hotel customers. You would have to pay for a chair on the beach. But i think that is consistent with the other resorts as well from what we could tell. We didn’t have any issues getting chairs at the pool. Daiquiris were good! Location was perfect, we took ubers to other parts but wouldn’t have wanted to stay anywhere else on the island.
I wanted to take a moment to share a quick note of appreciation for Rebecca G at the front desk. During my stay, she was exceptionally kind, professional, and attentive—exactly the type of presence that sets the tone for a great guest experience. Was a Great property and great time. Place has such Great energy and very clean and Convenient. My only minor notes. Coming from a design backround…The led rope lights under neath the poolscape steps need to be redone. They are the dotted model and are all loose and appear sloppy looking, For such a well done place that needs to be tightend up. No biggy. The poolside drinks need to be a larger serving size for the money ie an aperol sprtiz for example should be coming in a real value cup. Felt like was taking vitamins when i ordered. All n all a great place- well be back,
