Parents consistently highlight the school's readiness in preparing children for kindergarten, reasonable pricing with meals included, and strong support for multilingual families. My daughter has been at Westgate for the past two years and has absolutely thrived there. The teachers are all caring, warm, and have fun with the kids. They're also very attuned to each child's individual needs and meet kids where they are while helping them develop social and emotional skills. My daughter loves them and is always so excited to go to school. The director and assistant director are also fantastic--they greet the kids every morning and the office is a really welcoming place for both kids and parents. I cannot recommend Westgate enough--it's truly a special place.
Westgate child center is amazing!!! My son has been there for 3 years and now that it’s time for Kindergarten he doesn’t want to leave. He attends the half day program which runs from 9am to 3 pm and follows the FCPS school calendar. The teachers are very caring and provide a warm and comforting environment. Tuition is reasonable for this area and includes breakfast lunch and afternoon snack! (Not having to pack lunch is a BIG plus for me) They offer play based learning and really nurture the kids creativity and curiosity. My kid is definitely ready to conquer Kindergarten next year, and that is all thanks to Westgate!
Westgate Child Center is a nurturing, bright and fun preschool with child-guided programming. My son is in the part-day Lightning Bolts classroom, and he loves it. I like that it is a part day program that runs until 3 pm rather than noon/1pm (so he naps at school), which seems rare for most preschools in the area. They also provide all the food for the day (breakfast, lunch and snack for his class), which makes my life much easier and has extended his palate. The teachers I’ve interacted with are all lovely people. The building is recently constructed, and it is very bright, with both a large attached outdoor playground area and a soccer field adjacent to it that they use. They also offer third-party soccer, ballet, hip hop and karate classes to students (for an extra fee) during class time. I like that he can be exposed to these activities without me having to drive him around to classes. It is learning through fun, and they do a great job. It is also a nonprofit, which resonates with me.
Our son has attended Westgate since he was 3 years old. We moved him here from a Montessori program that we found was not a good fit. Westgate's play-based learning was a much better fit for our energetic toddler. At first, we attended the part-time Lightning Bolts classroom (mix of ages), which our son loved. He came home with so much art and exciting stories about all the activities and lessons he was learning. We recently decided to move him to the full-time preK Rainbow classroom to be with kids his age, who are all entering kindergarten next year and he very much enjoys this classroom as well. We have spent time in all three of Westgate's classrooms, and the staff is stellar across them all. There isn't a lot of turn-over here, so we've loved seeing the same teachers again and again, and always with loving smiles and hugs. The school is open during a wide range of hours and serves breakfast, lunch and snacks as well. They also have an awesome and large playground. I am so glad we made the switch over to Westgate and am considering their before and after school-care as well as summer camp as our son starts elementary school next year. Great, clean and cheerful school, and a truly great staff!
We did a big search of preschools/daycares in the area to finally conclude that Westgate Child Center (WCC) was the best in cost-benefit, and after a few months, we confirm that we were right. The director, Ms Adriana, is very comprehensive and has always showed a great attitude with us and our child since we are in WCC. We are a family with Spanish as a mother language, and every time she sees our child or us, she does her best for speaking in Spanish (we the parents don’t need it, but I appreciate it). The assistant director, Ms. Mirtha, always receives us with a smile and willing to help. In our child's class, there are at least 2 teachers with Spanish as a mother language, which has permitted a softer transition for our child who is new in an English-speaking country. They all make us feel that our family is important for the child center, and I really appreciate that. The student:teacher ratio is less than 4:1, the smallest one I have seen in this long search, which allows kids to have a more personalized attention and care. I really feel my child being treated with love in his class by the teachers. Ms. Donna and her team are very nice and respectful. Last but not least, the parents of our child's class are nice and kind, and some of them are more involved with the Child Center. I believe it has been a blessing to find WCC and we hope we can continue to be here. Thank you very much to all the WCC team that makes it a happy place for our kids, were kids are always happy to return every day to preschool and at pickup, they want to keep sharing and playing with their friends.
