What Parents Say
This listing appears to be for a college campus rather than a daycare center. Reviews are from college students and visitors praising the campus atmosphere, facilities, and staff, though some note communication and administrative issues.
Even with today’s arctic-level cold, the SUNY WCC Valhalla campus is running well. The campus is very large and offers plenty of parking, and the snow is clearly being taken care of despite the weather. Because conditions are rough, I’d recommend parking as close as possible to your destination—there are multiple parking options across campus, which helps a lot. I’m a Justice Studies major, and so far I genuinely have no complaints about the program or my campus experience.
Looking for absolutely absurd waiting times to see a counsellor? How about waiting in one line, to be sent to two other lines in the building, just to discover you were right to wait in the first line all along? Welcome to Pinball Community College, where entitled staff sends you God knows where for God knows how long. In this realm, authority is the flipper and you are the ball, so saddle up, bcuz you're gonna be here a while. The average waiting time on the 6 or 7 occasions I've gone to see them was one hour, and the conversation is never longer than 5 minutes. A handful of the counsellors are genuine and intelligent, but the understaffing and confusing protocol leads to frustration on all sides. They usually just send you to another building, which will send you back when you fill out whatever form they need from you. The main building was the real treat. I remember one occasion where I waited at registrar, was sent to financial aid, only to be sent BACK to registrar by an overwhelmed gentleman, so that I could be escorted back to the financial aid guy by a supervisor, who reminded Mr. Overwhelmed Man that that was, in fact, his departments issue. Overwhelmed man said give me 10 minutes I'm busy, I'll call you over. 15 minutes later, he walked to me and asked me why I didn't come over , which prompted a mental dialogue in which I wondered if I had taken LSD or something (I had not). The last bad part is the rudeness of the staff in the main building. I felt there were times where they were snarky. I'm not gonna lie, they were kind of mean. The younger staff seemed a lot more eager to help, but at least two members of the older staff, for lack of a better word, were crotchety. I have to light an incense before AND after...sheeeesh. The saving grace at this C.C., besides the counsellors, are the teachers. Most of the teachers I had there had their doctorate in a science , the lowest certification a teacher had in 4 terms was a Master's in chemistry. They're also good people ...if you're honest with them, they give you the benefit of the doubt. Show up to class and do the homework and you'll get a B or better. Tests do matter, though. Teachers and counsellors were the only reason for a star, so they get one each. For WCC, a navigationally treacherous website and otherworldly waiting times feel accentuated by the fact that I'm paying these people out of my pocket, 3K per semester, 4 times a year. 3 white stars!
Im currently attending as a freshman. The school is very clean and organized and the staffs there are respectful enough but the services are very unprofessional. When you call for a advisor or any help you either have to wait hours on the phone, staffs hang up or you are dismissed and left with no help. A lot of the time staffs don't answer emails or phone calls. Recently I've sent a complain about my history teacher being very racist and sexist and my compliant was left on delivered and muted. Please fix your services and help your students because not everyone has money to throw around.
Fire everyone in the Bursae's office. They don't email you back. I've missed 2 seamsters of school because of their lack of communication. They were good from 2022 and below. Not anymore
Great community. Very friendly staff and students, also relaxing campus ambiance.
