This is my church! I fell in love with it when I was living in Pittsburgh, and would cherish the times I could come visit. Now I'm a full fledged member, and fully integrated in the community. We care about the community around Sykesville, and are a come as you are church! Check us out, you won't be disappointed.
I went to the food pantry they have the last Saturday of the month. All the people were extremely nice and helpful and answered all of our questions. We were in and out in less than 10 minutes and they even helped load the car. We went towards the end of the pantry time around 1030-11am. I've been earlier years ago and it was crowded. That was back before the pandemic. Overall great experience.
This place is home. I love Wesley Freedom UMC. It's a safe, community driven space: the church has a clear mission to do good work week after week. There are so many ministries that reach out to help our community: Hope Rising, the South Carroll Food Pantry, Feed My Sheep, EYLC, and so many more. It definitely starts with strong leadership. Rev. Pastor Jenny is a treasure. She fights to make sure we all feel heard and seen. She is extremely intelligent and supportive of our success in doing good things in the community. I had a stroke last year, and she came to my house to check on me. During the pandemic and while so much was going on at the church, she took the time to personally check on me. I will never forget that! Pastor Ian is amazing intellectual who brings that energy to every sermon. Dan Eschliman, the Worship Director, is truly gifted in so many ways. Wesley Freedom UMC is a place where you can feel safe, share your divine gifts, and make lifelong friends. It's a place you can find spiritual guidance and support when life knocks you down. This will always be a special place in my heart; I really hope you come and give it a visit. Maybe I'll see you there!
There's a BSA Troop called 719 that meets every Tuesday night except for the second Tuesday of the month. It's worth checking out if you have a child who is young enough or old enough to join.
This is my home Church in the Eldersburg Sykesville area. Amazing people very welcoming to everyone. Regardless of personal background or beliefs. Amazing youth program is very vibrant and growing. Reverend bill is the best.
