Welcome School Child Development Center INC

This incident happened in February 2024 and after thinking it over I wasn’t going to share it but it keeps running through my mind and I want parents to be aware, especially since there are very few preschool options in the Bellevue community. Here’s what happened: I went to sign my son up for preschool. We went to the front door there was no button to an intercom to be buzzed in like most schools. I didn’t notice it when we visited because they had conferences going on and someone was sitting on the bench inside the door. Our first visit at the school went great! Anyways, the doors were locked as they should be. So I called twice while waiting outside the door. No body answered. So I walked around to the front of the church to see if I could get in. Walked right in the building. No body in sight. Walked down the hall to 2 ladies working. I told them I was needing to drop off registration paper work for preschool. They barely even glanced at me and were like go down the stairs to get to preschool. Well the stairs were literally next to the front doors before walking down the hall to the office area where the ladies were. So, we go down stairs there was nobody in the preschool office area. I waited about 10 min and still nobody in sight. I can hear kids in the classrooms. I didn’t feel comfortable just walking into a class because of all the craziness you hear going on in schools. Like total stranger danger! So, I left thinking I’ll come back later or tomorrow and try again. But, later that day I felt like a million concerns running through my head. I felt like it was so easy for me to just walk into this church / preschool. Knowing this, would you still send your kid there? When we looked at the school my husband and I were fully like this is a great option for our child and felt great about it. After a few days I decided to send a polite detailed email to the preschool about what happened. I never received a response. The more I think on this, walking away was the best option for us. I’m hoping they took me serious and have changed.

Welcome School is a fantastic preschool! My two girls learned so much in their play based program. Daily outside play on an awesome playground, even in the winter, is a huge plus! The teachers are warm and caring and make each child feel special. We spent 3 years at the school and I recommend it to everyone!

Welcome School was a great place for my child to learn along with play. The staff were always friendly and my child learned so much and made great friends. The school is clean and offered a variety of learning centers throughout the year. Staff were honest about their recommendations on whether to move my child forward to kindergarten or whether she needed an extra year to grow and learn. I highly recommend Welcome School to those seeking a preschool!

My son, Blake, has been attending Welcome School for the past two years. He truly enjoys the teachers he has had. He really likes the activities they do. He comes home from school talking about what they did that day, what job he had, and what he played with his friends. Welcome School is preparing him to be successful in Kindergarten. I would strongly recommend Welcome School for anyone looking for preschool for their little ones.

My son has loved his Welcome School experience! We have attended for 2 years now and have loved the staff! They truly care about each child and about helping them learn and grow! Highly recommend!
