I could never have imagined 2 years ago what we would be experiencing because of this facility and the owner. Having a child with special needs is stressful, but dealing with companies in this field of work who don’t truly care about your child or their well-being, that’s by far the most stressful thing we’ve ever dealt with. The entire process with Wee Can has been disorganized chaos. They’ve had staff turnover after staff turnover. They provide very little consistency/dependability. When you get staff members assigned that stay, they are overworked and end up being too distracted to properly serve your child. I’ve had to personally address issues with programming and how it was being ran numerous times. They are constantly changing the “rules” for staff and the types of programming they use for the kids. I appreciate keeping up with the latest processes, but that is not the case with this company. They recently discharged us after they had the majority of their staff quit. The owner then emailed me and another parent at the clinic (the same generic email, just plugged our names into it) stating that they were discontinuing services due to the stress of traveling to treat our children on the staff—which was actually because they no longer had staff to service us. We were told in that email we would have 30 days of service and be aided in transitioning to a new facility. Our tech quit approximately one week later, they didn’t tell us until the following week, 2 hours before therapy was to start. There were no other options for appropriate therapists (proper pairing takes weeks), so we have had no services. I then questioned receiving aid in the transition and was told by the owner via email that it was not her responsibility to help. According to BCBA code of ethics, it is in fact their ethical responsibility. I requested our child’s records (which should be provided without having to request when being discharged) and was told they would get them to me ASAP. Over a week passed with nothing, so I emailed and was told by the owner that they hadn’t gotten them prepared yet. I responded asking when to expect them and that they were interfering with my child properly being able to transition. No response, to date. My husband called five times, leaving four voicemails, I emailed, and we text the scheduling phone with no response. I can not describe to you the emotional duress this has placed on our family. This company is highly irresponsible and I question how ethically based they truly are. There are many options for therapy offered, I would highly suggest that families seek out all of their options and do thorough homework. I would never wish what we are going through on any other family.
We were mislead by this company numerous times. We were told by one person we would start therapy in December, months after our evaluation which we never received the results of. Never got a call back with the official start date. Called and left numerous messages and couldn’t get a call back from the office manager who told us that. Finally called and spoke to someone at corporate and was told that person didn’t have the authorization to give us a start date. We were then pushed out until June. Then they didn’t even have us down for June because we got lost in the shuffle after they let go of the office manager. Then they couldn’t find our paperwork which had all of our son’s personal information. They did finally locate it and were trying to get him started before June. However, we had been told throughout the entire process that they accepted Medicaid. This is not the case so we had to be removed from the waiting list because we can’t afford it. This has been such a long, difficult and emotionally draining process. The company is not organized and there’s a severe lack of communication between corporate and the actual clinics. I left a negative review on Facebook and received a late night email from corporate scolding me for that honest review. That’s unacceptable an unprofessional. I do NOT recommend Wee Can Autism.
Absolute nightmare. My child is still traumatized over what took place while she was in the so called care of the staff and owner.
