The automotive program is top tier. Hands on learning is exceptional, teachers are awesome, and the Veteran coordinators actually know what they are doing! Administration is still pushing DEI bs, so I removed 1 star.
The most unhelpful unorganized unprofessional process inconsiderate system ever. Trying to help my stepdaughter understand her financial aid request denial financial services payment plan qualifications. We were moved around from student services to five other window apartments. No department knew what the other one had or didn't have, it was an hour and a half of walking back and forth only to be sent back to the place we started student services. And still there was no resolution and everybody acted like there was no supervisor no management no accountability. Just a waste, just a waste and I felt everyone was just incompetent and uneducated. Then get a supervisor then get that person supervisor or director You don't keep sending me from one window to the next ridiculous
Offers a variety of classes. Most professors are really good, kind, and help you succeed. Take David Erwin and Michael Quail (the older one) if you're going into Math. The campus is very well maintained, lots of parking, and there are a lot of different programs to help your career. There are some clubs (club sports, intramural sports, academic clubs--join women in STEM!) but the social scene isn't very active, but I guess that's good if you're an introvert. The application process and registering for classes is also very easy--just make sure you register for classes ASAP. Overall, a good school to go to (and much more affordable than universities).
Apologies for any triteness. Democracy runs well w an educated populace. A few hallmarks of a Democracy are; Quality of Life, Education, Freedoms and the Civil Rights of All. Universal Healthcare, Access, Education and Trades training, why not? If we are able to pay one man millions of dollars, then why not provide for millions of people? How often does corporate welfare, “trickle down” and subsidies to huge corporations translate into savings? Educated, critically thinking humans are one goal and Community Colleges are gateways and answers to improving and increasing Democratic values. How naive, ignorant and misinformed I was as a young adult, to snub and look down on Community Colleges. As the decades passed and the Grace of wisdom was given to me, I began to realize the value of CC. Mistakes made can be the process in which we grow and improve, if those mistakes don’t kill you. Thus, Washtenaw Community College is packed full of the possibilities of enhancing the potentialities, aptitudes and visions, just as any institution of higher learning should be. The key: Higher Learning. Do not disparage the “in-district” resident’s ability to pay $95 a credit hour. Of course, the Big 10, Ivy League and others are prestigious and wonders to behold. Yet talent is talent and at times it all comes out in the wash. We are all in the mosaic of life. An accommodating student center, the Legendary Morris Lawrence w the Auditorium’s name in his honor and the music program still going strong. WCC offers countless resources, references and an ability to improve your life plan. A new career pathway, a hobby, a skill, a language- don’t break an arm or a leg, go into an easy transition, by becoming a WCC student and hold your head high.
