What Parents Say
Upper Perkiomen Child Care Center has highly polarized reviews. Positive reviews praise the caring staff, strong teacher-child relationships, and developmental progress, particularly for children with special needs. However, negative reviews cite management issues, poor parent communication, inadequate handling of bullying incidents, and disrespectful staff treatment of both parents and children.
I can't rave enough about this daycare/preschool facility. My husband and I were so impressed by how much our son opened up and grew into his own person in just one year of being there. As a almost non-verbal 4 year old with limited words, they accepted and embraced my son regardless of the special "love" he needed day in and day out. After a year, my son was counting, writing his own name, naming all the letters in the alphabet, excited to go to school, and was a totally different child. I truly think it was because of the caring and passionate staff they have working at Upper Perk Child Care Center that made a difference in not only my child's life but other children's too. Hands down one of the best we have in the valley. Highly recommend.
My son loves it here. Teachers are attentive and have great communication with me. My son struggled his first day and they made sure to give him the extra attention he needed to get comfortable. Shout out to Ms. Kirsten and Ms. Jenn for handling a very anxious little boy on his first day!
The management is a joke. I would give 5 stars with no doubt when my older kids were there years ago. Now all the great teachers left. When I contacted the office and tried to sign up for my younger one, they didn't reply my calls or voicemails. After several tries, I had to stop by and ask in person. The temporary director, Amber, gave me the "I am tired" look and basically told me that she was too busy to take care of my request. When I showed up for the scheduled tour, she didn't say a word or even a hi to me. She appointed a girl, and said "give her a little tour". Wow, how welcoming was that!! If a daycare treats parents with no respect, how can I expect them to treat little kids with care and patience. It's so sad see a great local daycare going downhill.
A incident happened with my non verbal austic son and was handled very poorly. At no time was I given an explanation as to why a teacher wouldn't stop verbal taunting? 4 year olds will be 4 year olds and while teachers can not control their actions, they are able to stop the actions while happening. Aren't "teachers" there to keep children safe physically and emotionally? I was then treated so poorly by a different "teacher" later in the day who wasn't even present when the incident happened. This women was so extremely rude, and basically said i was fabricating the whole thing. The girls at the front desk tried to be helpful and they were kind but there is just no explanation that will ever be reasonable enough to allow actions like that to happen in a classroom and to allow staff to treat children and parents so disrespectful. 9/20/22 I still have not heard a single word from anyone at this facility, although someone did reply that they were looking into my review. All I want is someone to care at ALL about my sons serious situation. I was asked to sign an incident report on him being struck with a toy when playing which was obviously a accident, yet no incident report on teachers neglecting to stop verbal harassment? I just cant understand this at all!
UPCCC has provided great care for our son. The staff are awesome, they have several very long-term people. My son has thrived socially, emotionally, and academically. Highly recommended!
