This place opens its doors on Saturdays to the homeless and others who may be in need, offering food, clothing, shoes, backpacks, blankets, and other good quality items. They also sometimes offer... Free medical consult and blood pressure check
As always UUMC does not disappoint. There was an unusually small crowd there today for coffee , pastries , oatmeal , hygiene and clothing. This Organization Shows up " EVERY SATURDAY " to help others out right here in the same Community. You guys are Aeesome !
They have coffee at 8am & an awesome meal at 9am every Saturday... Everyone is welcome... There are some truly beautiful people in this world and University United Methodist Church is where some of them come to serve...
I'm speaking about the breakfast service for the homeless they, UUMC, provide every Saturday at 9:00 am. It's wonderful and kind of them to help the homeless population with an awesome and fulfilling breakfast that includes: grits, oatmeal, cereal, fruit salad, yogurt, vegetable salad, grilled onions, jalapenos, pastries, lots of loaves of bread and veggies to take out, the main and magical quesadillas, coffee, orange juice, milk, and sometimes a special meal that is so much you can't eat it all. They offer Capital Metro day bus passes, one per person, and also a clothing closet called "Fig Leaf Store" for men, women and children. When you get there talk to pastor Will Hyatt, who's in charge of the event, for more info and resources. Pastor John Elford is the main pastor of the church, very tall God's servant who is very friendly and polite and helpful. This place is one of the main and best that offers a wonderful meal for the homeless, and also not homeless but low income population and families. It's a blessing to have them here in Austin, TX. Pay a visit, even if it's just to check it out, or give a donation. I hope this helps.
The Church hosts a variety of different programs and works with other ministries often. all staff and leadership of the church members here work hard to keep the community involved, and feeling welcomed.
