What Parents Say
Ummie's Kiddie Kottage receives mostly positive reviews praising academic instruction, communication via Brightwheel app, welcoming atmosphere, and Islamic/Arabic learning opportunities. However, two negative reviews cite unprofessional staff behavior, poor communication, lack of introductions, favoritism, and a negative work environment that made parents feel uncomfortable.
I have nothing but commendations for the center. My child has been enrolled since she was one year old and will soon celebrate her third birthday, having successfully transitioned through three classes—an impressive testament to the center's quality. I greatly appreciate the communication facilitated through Brightwheel, which allows for seamless interaction; I receive timely updates regarding closures, staff tardiness, and insights into the activities my child engages in, even on days when she is unwell or may have had a minor mishap, often accompanied by photographs. The center's family-oriented atmosphere is truly heartwarming, creating an environment that feels like an extended family, where both teachers and parents genuinely prioritize my child's well-being. Moreover, the Islamic foundation of the daycare is welcomed, as it provides my child with the opportunity to learn a new language, which she thoroughly enjoys, despite not being of the Muslim faith. Would recommend it if in the Germantown area.
The absolute BEST daycare I have ever sent my children to. My daughter (9 now) has been in attendance since she was 2, and my youngest son (5 now) has been there since he was 4 months. Very welcoming and my kids love it there. I can tell they're not just being "watched" but they learn so much academically; as they have pre-k & kindergarten classes, they also have instructors that teach your children islamic studies and even arabic (if that is a preference for you, its totally optional), physically as they have an inside gym and outside playground for all kinds of play, and even emotionally - because even our smallest of children need to know how to navigate their emotions, sense of sharing, friendship and other social skills. I wish she had more locations 🤭
Maa shaa Allah wal hamdu lillah, I am so overwhelmed with joy to have found a learning center I feel safe & confident sending my children to. When we're getting ready in the morning they're so happy to be on their way to play with their friends and learn from the best teachers... and when I pick them up, even tho they're so happy to see me, they hate that it's time to go. I'm constantly updated on their progress, if not through the Brightwheel app, in person and the teachers and I are always making sure we're on the same page to ensure their progress is both positive and productive! May Allah continue to bless the individuals who help care for and teach our children daily and may He protect this business from the evil ayn, the jinns and the envier when he envier - Ameen
Not for me . Staff is young and messy . No communicate skills . & wasn’t welcoming at all . Not friendly ! Negative energy. The director was more professional but she needs better staff . Maybe since it’s family oriented they assume you’re supposed to know how things are ran . When I came to pick my child up and had a conversation with the director! 4 ladies surrounded me as if they had the real issue and wanted a problem trying to throw rocks and hide their hands and make me feel like I was crazy . I knew conversations were being held about me THAT was the miscommunication.. to busy having the wrong conversations. I had to snatch my baby up out of there and it’s only been roughly 3 weeks . ID say if you don’t know them personally . This isn’t the place for you . I stated my concerns and all I kept hearing was “well you…” . I’m so upset because as a Muslimah I thought I could send my baby here comfortably but it seems like every other day I was receiving a weird vibe. And my baby can’t talk so i have to make the right choice for her . Not to mention when I had a concern about how her wipes were returned I was told “well she didn’t know .. you didn’t communicate.” Why didn’t she ask ?! I’m the only one that gotta communicate huh?! Guess so. Very one sided & I feel as though the director is trying to protect her staff! As we were having the conversation about my “issues” a different teacher from a DIFFERENT CLASS! Was putting in her 2 cents following smart remarks I acted like I didnt hear it because I don’t want to create a bigger issue ! This is just MY experience .. in sha allah she chooses older and more more experienced staff. I literally felt that I was being talked about everyday! Not a good feeling. “We treat everybody like family that’s just how she is ” I’m not family and if I had a natural negative attitude/facial expression everyday I’m sure i wouldn’t had got away with oh “that’s just how mom is” very one sided.
I have been dealing with this place for four years great staff and the kindergarten teacher amazing my baby was on a 4th grade level in 2nd grade I love this place
