My daughter attended the UIC Children’s Center, and I truly valued the education and care she received during her time there. The environment is warm, supportive, and focused on the holistic development of each child. The teachers and administrators clearly care deeply about the kids—not just academically, but socially and emotionally as well. The genuine effort the staff puts into creating a nurturing and engaging space makes a real difference. I always felt that my daughter was safe, encouraged, and seen for who she is. I’m grateful for the positive impact they had on her early learning journey.
If you're a parent looking for a safe preschool, do NOT send your child to UIC Children’s Center. Our son has been repeatedly bullied by the same child over a very long period of time, yet the school has failed to take effective action. He has been pushed, scratched, and left with visible injuries. Each time we asked for incident reports, the school either delayed or refused to provide them. Only the most recent two incidents were formally documented as follows— all prior reports were ignored or withheld, we are still waiting today. Most recently one, a teacher told our son to help clean up all the blocks in the block area where the same bullying child was still playing. As our son followed instructions, the boy scratched him on the neck cause he do not like the action of cleaning up. Disturbingly, instead of protecting our son or upholding the school’s prior commitment to separate the two, the teacher told our son he “shouldn’t have touched the blocks he played.” This shamed and confused our child after he was attacked. Another one, just a few days earlier, the same boy pushed our son unprovoked, and when our son tried to defend himself, he was violently scratched my kid’s face and one really near the eye, leaving a deep wound, and same thing happened multiple times. These are not isolated incidents. This is negligence. The school’s director has repeatedly failed to provide timely incident reports, and their approach has been passive, defensive, and unsafe. Instead of resolving the issue, we were pressured to make a quick decision about withdrawing our son — as if it was our job to remove the victim, not the school’s responsibility to protect him. If your child’s safety and emotional well-being matter, stay far away from this place. No parent should have to beg a preschool to protect their child.
