Lived there at 1726 Richmond rd, apt 5A, until Sept, ‘66. Moved to midwest and still there. Loved growing up there, the playground, the two baseball fields, the convenience of stores, shops, schools and churches. Never far were beaches, boardwalks, colleges, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, L.I., ferry rides, etc., etc…..!
As an active community member for over 12 years, the decline in morale has diminished and it has very little to do with COVID-19. Many capable, efficient and interpersonal leaders/directors, have done amazing work here and they’re always moved to another site, until it’s most recent one. There has been a steady increase of conflict and confusion, lack of leadership, miscommunication and the list goes on. My only blessing is that it is not in an IMPOVERISHED neighborhood. I have spoken with colleagues and fellow workers and am waiting to hear back on the last transgression which occurred here. Truth be told, if I could drive my kids to another neighborhood, I would make that sacrifice. I hope my kids school offers after school in September because this place’s leadership or lack thereof will be its own undoing.
