UAMS Kids First has been by far the worst therapeutical day care. The amount of neglect towards the children by the staff is heartbreaking. My nephew attended this daycare up until today. He wears an AFO brace on his leg throughout the day but the brace is not to be worn during sleep times for several different reasons. One being the risk of low circulation. My sister went to pick up my nephew and he was layed down for a nap with his brace still on. When the issue was addressed the supervisor made the statement that they leave it on in the case of a fire? When she addressed the issue of inappropriate music being played over a Bluetooth speaker in the class room that was brushed under the rug as well. Again when she raised the issue of the staff in the class room dragging another child back into the corner and directly ask for a complaint form she was told.." we have never had this issue before so I'm not even sure we have a form like that"! We will not stop until these issues are resolved accordingly and parents are made aware of the care that is being given to these children.
So, I had to withdraw my son from his daycare.... UAMS Kids First. I believe the last straw with me was walking in and my son had a (double brace) AFO left on his leg, ankle, and foot at nap time. It is mandatory it comes off due to pressure sores and circulation. He just got botox injections two weeks ago. We are supposed to be helping his health. I contacted the on-site therapist at 9:00 a.m. via text and she said, "It comes off when he sleeps." What really got to me was the way the directors handle the situation... She tried to excuse it in every single way!!!!! I said no! Your not telling the truth the therapist DID NOT order it to be worn. He has a pair of Converse shoes in case of a fire alarm he wears everyday to the school. The two teachers were listening to rap music on a Bluetooth speaker when I walked into his classroom a couple of weeks ago. The directors tried to tell me it was "Kids Bop Hip Hop" I said, "No, I've heard those songs and it was nothing of that nature." A week ago I went to get Christian and he was playing with play dough with his friend. So, I didn't want to make him cry and thought I'll get some play time in with Christian and play with them. It's an open door policy. There was this little boy in the corner with the books crying so hard and saying "Momma". When he saw us playing he ran over and started to play with us and was happy. Christian's teacher dragged him across the room and he wears an AFO and put him back in the corner. He had green snot running down his face and she didn't even get him a kleenex. As, Soon as she turned her back like two minutes later he ran over to the magnetic board and she put him back in the corner. This went on for thirty minutes or longer. He wasn't doing anything and his time for time out should have been done. It's illegal to isolate a child for a long time on time out!!!!! I'm disgusted with the professionalism of this facility. They let one of their staff (who acts like a thug and is rude with the kids) wear a black shirt with white letters and it says DIAPER CHANGER in big letters across her shirt. She is a teacher with her own classroom. It's so bad it makes me sick! When I talked to the director's boss she tried to target me like this is my fault and refer me to a different daycare three times in conversation!!!!! I have found a faith based devolopmental daycare for him!!!! I have called the Office of Early Childhood Devolpment and the Department of Human Services since the directors and administration don't want to do anything about it.
