I am writing to share my experience with Two Rivers Head Start on the West Side of Aurora and the challenges I faced with their handling of my three-year-old son's transition into a classroom setting. As a parent, I was deeply disappointed by the lack of understanding and support we received. My son, who was homeschooled from ages one to three and is an only child, needed a patient and supportive environment to adjust to the classroom. Instead, I was met with frequent phone calls and complaints about his behavior. My efforts to engage with the school were hindered by not meeting me on the days that I requested. Instead they had me, the parent, accommodate to them and when I showed up to the day we agreed to meet they cancelled and rescheduled me on the spot. This, combined with the use of non-approved state forms and the absence of necessary staff like special directors, showcased a lack of professionalism. The school's repeated suggestion to seek family counseling for my young child, who had no prior trauma, felt inappropriate. Furthermore, they recommended that I have him screened and evaluated at another school, implying he needed special services not offered at their center. When I followed their advice, the evaluation revealed that my son did not require such services. This experience showcased a lack of support and a disregard for my son's individual needs. In addition to these concerns, I was alarmed to learn that a staff member discussed my son's behavior with someone outside the school, a clear breach of privacy. Overall, my experience with Two Rivers Heads Start was marked by unprofessionalism, a lack of empathy, and a concerning disregard for my son's well-being. I am relieved to be transferring my son to a new school and would not recommend this location to other parents seeking a supportive and understanding environment for their children.

My son has told me multiple times that he loves his school. The teachers and staff are so kind and friendly. You can tell they genuinely love what they do! I’m glad I decided to enroll my son here!

AWESOME program!!! The best place to take your child for the greatest per-school experience. The center offers highly skilled and trained staff. The program works on school reediness skills. The staff are caring and kind. They also offer support to families in the program and in the Aurora community.

I really recommend this preschool program because when my daughter started in this program, she was not talking well but after a month I was really able to notice the difference. She was talking more with confidence using more words.Thanks to all the teachers who were interacting with her and all the kids around her having conversations with her. Also, when she started there she was not a 100 percent potty trained but once again her teachers encouraged her more to use the toilet. THEY DID A REALLY GREAT JOB!! This program is not just a daycare it is a place where my kid feels safe, motivated, and loved by all the staff. Comparing to other daycares TRHS is like a real school because you get involved in so many fun and educational activities with your child. Also there is a large motor room where others daycares don’t have it. The kids are active throughout the year no matter how the weather is hot or cold. As a parent I truly recommend this preschool program. The teachers and staff do an amazing job in so many ways. 🍎

My boys love going to school everyday, they have learned so much since starting here. The teachers and staff are all nice and helpful.
