Great place to workout, friendly staff, good equipment. Only issues would be wish they had more pool hours and exercise classes. Though their exercise drumming class is fun!
All in all it is a great place. I really enjoyed Total Body Toning and Balance & Flexibility with Courtney, the instructor and as well as the attendees were very welcoming and quick to help me get setup and ready to go. Tried Water Aerobics with George today, let me tell you this class is amazing. The instructor as well as the attendees were so welcoming, they even let me join late :) I had an absolute blast and left feeling not only strengthened physically, but mentally. From the first classes I have attended and the staff alone, I would have eagerly given this location a 5 stars., but here is why they deserve only 3 stars. I had planned to join the Joints class with Mary at 9:45, but let me tell you, the instructor was anything but friendly or welcoming. In fact, she would not answer a single question I asked about the class. I am very outgoing and generally get along with ANYONE/EVERYONE, but I have never felt so unwelcomed in my life. I had planned on trying the Yoga class on Tues/Thurs, but now learned it is also taught my Mary so I guess I will skip that class. My only question is, if this is a public class offered at a public facility, then why do they not have instructors who want to teach the "public"? Very disappointing.....
!!! CORRECT ADDRESS FOR NEOSHO YMCA IS - 4701 Chouteau St, Neosho, MO 64850
I go to the Neosho YMCA nearly every night. The gym section itself is small but the equipment is nice, sometimes it gets a bit crowded but that really can't be helped. The main problem is that the men's bathroom is filthy. I mean really, REALLY filthy. It's not uncommon to find the toilets completely clogged and unusable, or the seats dirty and I've seen them remain that way for several days before finally being cleaned. I know that it's hard to keep the facilities cleaned when it's unstaffed over night but I feel like that more could be done to keep the bathroom clean. I also had a very unpleasant encounter with a member of the Y's staff. It was about 10 minutes after closing and I was about to enter through the side door you use whenever it's after hours and you have the 24 hour access. I was coming in after the staff lady but before I could enter the building she turned around and very rudely said that I need to have 24 hour access to ender the Y. I informed her that my card does have 24 hour access but she snapped at me and said something along the lines of, "Your card says nothing about 24 hour access! I don't know you!" then slipped into the gym and slammed the door in my face. I just want to note that most of the staff I've dealt with have been friendly and I have nothing but good things to say about most of them!
Very sweet, professional staff.. except for Kathy Harvey that works in the welcome center..she was extremely rude and went out of her way to make me feel unwelcome, I actually felt bullied for the first time in my life..quite a few of the staff personally apologized to me for Kathy's behavior. Not what you expect from someone who works in the welcome center. Other than that it really is great.
