I was very pleased with my experience at the Surgical Center. Registration was quick and easy. The pre-op and recovery room nurses were fantastic. All staff went out of their way to keep myself amd my husband informed as well as keep me comfortable. I have not ever been a fan of Frankfort Regional but in the last couple of years they have really impressed me with their improvement in care. Not sure what changed, but it's working.

Expecting Mothers — Please think very carefully before delivering here We delivered our baby at Frankfort Regional Medical Center (Women’s Care of the Bluegrass) after a completely healthy, full-term pregnancy with no complications. Early in labor, meconium-stained amniotic fluid was noted and documented by Dr. Shelbi Brown, yet labor was allowed to continue for approximately 19 hours. Our baby was later born critically ill and diagnosed with meconium aspiration and sepsis, following prolonged exposure to meconium in the womb during labor. Our child required care far beyond what this hospital was equipped to provide. A physician later explicitly told us they were not equipped to handle our baby’s condition and that transfer was necessary. Frankfort Regional has only a Level II NICU, while our child required a Level IV NICU—something we were never informed of prior to delivery. During NICU care at this facility, our baby suffered a lung injury while under the care of Dr. Deborah Reed-Thurston, which led to further catastrophic complications after transfer. The injured lung later ruptured, causing our baby to code for over 20 minutes. Upon arrival at the receiving hospital, our child nearly died and required emergency life support, ECMO, multiple surgeries, and a prolonged stay in critical care. The transfer was to an out-of-network hospital, leaving our family facing hundreds of thousands of dollars in unexpected medical bills. This was not a high-risk pregnancy. What we learned is that this hospital appears equipped only for deliveries where everything goes perfectly. When complications arise and care is not escalated appropriately, the consequences can be catastrophic. Earlier intervention, including consideration of an emergency C-section once meconium was identified, may have changed the outcome. We are sharing this so other parents can make a fully informed decision before trusting this facility with their child’s life. We are not the only family with a story like this, and we strongly encourage expecting parents to do thorough research before choosing where to deliver.

I had a colonoscopy at FRMC on November 11, 2025. I was scheduled to arrive at 8:30 a.m. and within 10 minutes, I was back in the preparation area, getting ready for the procedure. Before the procedure, the anesthesiologist came in and explained the sedation process, which was appreciated. When I was wheeled into the procedure room, the staff was pleasant and even smiled when I cracked a few poor jokes to ease my anxiety (I hate being put to sleep). The procedure itself was about 20 minutes long, and was painless as I was sedated and unaware of anything. I was in recovery for approximately 30 minutes and home by 10:30 a.m. All of the staff I met was polite and extremely considerate. None of us like to have a colonoscopy performed, but if it's necessary, schedule yours at FRMC. Good, professional staff and good service!

I live in the Lexington area and learned that I needed to come to Frankfort for a VIRTUAL COLONOSCOPY. I received both text messages and voicemail giving me a phone number to call to schedule my virtual colonoscopy. When I called that number-- several times, as it turned out-- I was told that I could not call and schedule my colonoscopy, that it had to be scheduled by my doctor's office. Not true. I called at least six times, had dropped calls and was switched to at least three different numbers. I was told, variously, that I was not on the schedule, that I was already scheduled (!), and that I could not schedule my colonoscopy. It took over a week for me to get it scheduled, calling at different times and speaking with quite a few people who were kind, but unaware of how to help me. I finally did get scheduled, and once I got there, my husband and I appreciated the friendly employees, layout of the hospital, and excellent care for the virtual colonoscopy. I would just suggest that folks in registration know what to say when someone calls to schedule a virtual colonoscopy, since it is an out of the ordinary procedure. Thanks so much!

I ended up in the ER last night for an infection I’ve been dealing with for a month. After seeing several doctors, I often felt like my situation was just being passed from one person to the next. When the infection started to spread, I finally went in — and I’m so grateful that Dr. Webb was the one who saw me. He was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and compassionate. For the first time, I felt like someone was truly taking my concerns seriously instead of pushing them along. You can just tell when a doctor or nurse is genuinely meant for this profession, and Dr. Webb is absolutely one of those people. He is a wonderful asset to FRMC. Thank you, Dr. Webb, for making me feel seen, heard, and genuinely cared for.
