The Lakewood YMCA receives consistently high ratings for its comprehensive facilities and welcoming atmosphere. It has taken me awhile to share this but I feel other families deserve to know before booking a birthday party. The staff working with us directly in the party room were extremely rude. These parties are not cheap and aside from that, why choose a job where you work closely with children if you clearly dislike them.

We've been members for over a decade. The staff is friendly and welcoming, the layout of the gym functions well, and there are so many things to do and options available. They offer many different classes. In addition to that, racquetball, pickleball, tennis, gymnastics, and various sports rec leagues are offered at the facility. The Lakewood YMCA is like a second home at this point. We love it!
I played in a women’s volleyball league here & it was wildly dysfunctional. We paid $70 to be in it & were told we would receive T-shirts, which never happened (the only team that didn’t). There were no rules established until AFTER the regular season was over (they were conveniently given out the week of playoffs). There were multiple weeks we had to set up our own net. One week there was no official, & another week the team we were supposed to play didn’t show because they were following an arbitrary schedule (that no one approved) created by a random player. One of the game days also fell on Super Bowl Sunday, & there was zero consideration for that (SO many people were out that week & struggled to find subs). The mismanagement of this league was atrocious & I will never again give my money to the Lakewood YMCA.
I would rate it 5 star and I would join if Lakewood would be 24/7. They close so early and are barley open on the weekends. They are making Jamestown 24/7 but who wants to go there?
