What Parents Say
THE ROC LEARNING CENTER LLC 2 receives polarized reviews with strong opinions on both ends. Positive reviews praise staff warmth, individual attention, and the owner's leadership, while negative reviews cite unsafe practices, alleged regulatory violations, inadequate supervision, and unresponsive management to parent concerns.
It just blows my mind that they only have negative reviews because both of my children have went or are going here. Holly and Dana were my oldest sons teachers when my oldest started here and he absolutely loved going every day and looked forward to it. They actually loved my kids and treated him like one of their own. He would cry if he had to miss a day. My youngest is with Cindy and Sarah most of the time in the infant room and I have the same experience they are so sweet and I do not worry about him with any of them. The owner Steve is also very understanding but also strick with his rules and policies (as he should be) and I couldn't respect that more. There have been times where he has had to set me straight and did it respectfully and to the point and I absolutely love that but he is also a very kind person that really cares about the kids and employees. Ive had experience with everyone working here and I do not have one negative thing to say about any of them and if you are thinking about enrolling your children I do highly recommend this place.
Unsafe practices and violations of state regulations I withdrew my 15-month-old son from The ROC Learning Center LLC 2 due to repeated inappropriate and unsafe practices. He was often confined in a jumper or crib as a form of punishment—a term used directly by teacher Cindy. This happened despite his age, size (26 lbs, 34 inches), and ability to walk and explore like a healthy toddler should. Extended use of baby containers like jumpers is harmful—they restrict movement, can delay physical development, and may cause long-term issues like poor posture or hip problems. These devices were never intended for punishment or prolonged restraint. This isn’t just bad judgment—it’s against Alabama state regulations. The Alabama Administrative Code § 660-5-27-.06 clearly states equipment like jumpers should not be used for discipline and only for short, developmentally appropriate periods. I also personally overheard staff yelling at children in the building, which violates 10(b)(2) of the same regulation prohibiting verbal abuse. Most disturbingly, a teacher named Amanda lifted a child completely off the ground by their shirt—the child was the director Steve’s grandson, and nothing was done about it. These are not isolated issues. They reflect a culture of disregard for child development, emotional well-being, and state law. I hope this review helps other families make informed choices and prompts this center to take accountability for its practices.
My granddaughter has been at the ROC for 3 months now and we love it! Steve seems to run a tight ship. The staff has been wonderful to my Sassy girl. I couldn’t ask for a better group of loving ladies. Thank you to each one of you ladies for all you do!
If I could give this place a negative 5 stars I would. This is one of the WORST daycares I have ever came across. They do not watch the kids like they are supposed to ,my daughter came home daily with scratches and ,bite marks on her body and they always said she was the one doing everything wrong which is not the case. I feel like they were doing nothing to help her but only picking on her and I'm really feeling like calling dhr or the cops on them to open up a case to see if they're actually abusing the kids
Worst daycare in DEKALB COUNTY AL The owner is rude and dishonest I've caught several of the teachers being mean to my child then I go to the owner about it and he says he will look at the cameras and never got back with me about it They worry more about texting then taking care of the children I highly recommend if your child goes here to take them out my child was mistreated and I will never bring her back!
