Such an amazing daycare/preschool! The outside play area is natural and wonderful and they spend so much time outside which is so important for kids. The teachers are all so caring and nurturing. The activities they plan are thought out, unique and inspire all the senses while tailored to the kids interest. Our family was going through a challenging time and the teachers were attentive to our child if she seemed like she needed some extra attention certain days. Thank you for cultivating such an amazing environment for our child and all the children there!
Patchwork has been the most wonderful and loving place for my two kids! The teachers and staff are patient, knowledgeable, and extremely caring with the children. The founder, Michele, is incredibly smart and extremely knowledgeable about the social-emotional development of children. She shares this knowledge with the teachers and supports parents (as do all the teachers!). I love that my children have been learning to identify and communicate their needs and wants, and I think this is such an important skill to learn early in life. The children at Patchwork spend a lot of time playing both inside and very frequently outside, which we love! They also work on a lot of creative projects, such as art and sewing and special projects like making applesauce from the on-site apple tree in the fall. There are multiple climbing structures in the different play spaces for the kids to develop strength and motor skills. Some of my favorite moments have been to see the pride in my children's faces when they have mastered skills on the rope swing and monkey bars and jungle gym! We feel very lucky to have found this space for our young children to grow and develop! It is a truly unique and special school.
We’ve had an incredible experience at Patchwork School, and it’s been a game-changer for our son. After transitioning from a larger chain daycare, we were looking for a place where he could feel more seen and supported—and Patchwork has exceeded our expectations. The smaller, more nurturing environment has allowed him to flourish in ways we didn’t think possible. One of the standout aspects has been the school’s focus on social-emotional learning. The staff does an amazing job helping the kids understand and manage their emotions, resolve conflicts, and build positive relationships with their peers. It’s been wonderful to see our son develop more empathy, confidence, and a sense of self-awareness. His teachers are so attentive and genuinely care about his growth, not just academically, but emotionally as well. We’ve also been so grateful for the emphasis on community at Patchwork School. It’s not just a place where our son has found friendships, but it’s also allowed us, as parents, to connect with other families. The school fosters a strong sense of belonging, and we've had the opportunity to socialize and build lasting relationships with other parents. It’s been a wonderful way to feel more involved and part of a close-knit community. We've also had the chance to give back through volunteer opportunities, which has only deepened our connection to the school and its values. This focus on community has made the entire experience even more meaningful, and we truly feel like we're all part of something special at Patchwork. Overall, Patchwork School has provided a safe, enriching, and loving space for our son to grow. We’re so grateful for the care and dedication of the staff, and we can truly see the positive impact it’s had on his development. Highly recommend!
We have had such a wonderful experience at Patchwork (two kids) and are so grateful that we get to have our kids surrounded by so much love and joy every day. We love how caring, kind, genuine, supportive, engaging, patient and creative the teachers are with the students. The teachers and staff are also always easy to connect with as parents if we ever need anything or are seeking extra support. We love the emphasis on independent play, collaborative play, outside play mixed with daily plans/structure and student-driven play/planning. Patchwork does a great job at emotional growth and fostering empowerment and self-confidence. The space itself is wonderful - an incredible outdoor space and also art studios and indoor play areas full of a variety of materials and simple, beautiful toys for art and play.
Patchwork provides a tremendous foundation in social-emotional support, using Nonviolent Communication to empower their students (as young as 1 year old) to express their feelings and needs. The teachers in this community truly love their students and create an atmosphere of compassion and trust. The curriculum is emergent, meaning that it evolves with the interests of each child. During the daily morning meeting, students are asked what kinds of idea, plan or offering they are interested in. The teachers build upon the threads germinating from within the students and, over time, integrate all academic subjects into each child's natural curiosity and love of learning. This is a truly unique and amazing school.
