I would hesitate to recommend this company, particularly Ocean Street. I've noticed some concerning behavior among the staff, with instances of racism, and it can be quite frustrating when rules seem to apply differently to different people.
Understandably Covid impacted services & yes they are often hard to get on the phone…BUT they have been understaffed & trying to get to everyone. The services I received were amazing & EVERY person who came to my home were absolutely professional, friendly & helpful. The young lady at the office was also considerate & helpful. I wouldn’t have faired well this past Winter without their program, and I am grateful & appreciate all their help. Just know they are inundated with applications which slows things down sometimes.
Applied in September... have been toyed with for 4 months. It is now the following year mid way through January and I have still have not been helped. They have approved me and told me multiple times I will be receiving help, and then nothing happens. Beware if you apply to this program.
A very helpful organization who looks out for the community. They really have a great thing going here for people who need their services and simply don't know how to go about getting to the next step in their life. I would highly recommend their team.
Would give a zero if I could they keep doing it adding things, but cant keep up. Blame covid havent been in office on st john. Making struggling not me families go without rental help or send liheap checks out. Don't return calls to people . Oh we'll call you back. They call themselves 764- help, more like 774-hurt. At one time think they cared, now just like any agency. They change services to suit their wallet needs. They've gone too big and can't handle it
