What Parents Say
The Nurtury is a highly-regarded play-based preschool in Sherman Oaks with exceptional teacher retention and low student-to-teacher ratios. Parents consistently praise the warm, nurturing staff, strong community atmosphere, flexible hours for working parents, and developmental outcomes that prepare children for kindergarten.
After looking at 4 preschools in the area, the Nurtury was the only choice! The teacher to student ratio is excellent, the balance between academics and play is wonderful, and the teachers and staff have worked there for many many years. When we met with Norma and toured the school, we got positive vibes from everyone there and the kids seemed happy! The school emphasizes parent involvement, which has been a wonderful way to interact with the school and meet other families, as we are new to the area. The monthly fees are also very reasonable and comparable to other schools in the area, and they have options for lower fees depending on your income. The other benefit compared to other schools was the later pick up time, as many schools in the area had a early pick up time which didn't work for our schedules. Highly recommend The Nurtury if you are looking for a preschool in the Sherman Oaks area!
Our son is in his first year at The Nurtury and we love it. It's play based learning, the teachers are warm and loving, and it has really helped our son develop his independence. There is a sense of community amongst the families, and opportunities to get together outside of school hours - which has been great for our son to develop friendships. There are times in the day where all ages play together, which I think has been valuable as well. Not to mention the hours and holiday schedule are ideal for two working parents. Would recommend to anyone in the Sherman Oaks area!
Our kids have been at the Nurtury for over three years, and we've loved every moment. The teachers are amazing—nurturing, fun, and very tenured. The extracurriculars - dance, gymnastics, music & more - keep the kids excited and engaged, and we've met so many local families through the school's vibrant parent community. Our 5-year-old starts Kindergarten in the fall, and not only is he more than prepared, he absolutely loves going to school, which, let's be real, should be every parent's goal at this age. We’re so grateful to have uncovered this Sherman Oaks gem. Highly recommend it!
All 3 of my children attended the Nurtury Preschool, and with each of them, we have enjoyed a wonderful experience. We initially chose the Nurtury because they offered long hours perfect for working parents. During our time at the Nurtury, they not only filled that childcare gap for us, but exceeded expectations. We discovered a wonderful community of nurturing teachers and engaged parents. The class sizes are small and intimate, and families get to know each other well. Additionally, all 3 of my children thrived under the Nurtury’s play-based philosophy. They each discovered learning at their own pace and found confidence to enter first grade at a bigger school more than prepared. I highly recommend checking out this school.
After a long search I'm glad we choose The Nurtury. The teachers are all amazing and have been there for years. There is no turnover among teachers as they love their job and are great at it. The staff to student ratio is low which allows for individual attention. My daughter is happy there. She gets to play with new things every day. I was worried that the playground was smaller than some other schools but I actually like it. New toys and equipment are put out daily so it is always exciting for the children. Children and teachers are in a smaller space so are interacting. The school community is great as well. We didn't know many local families in the area but now are building a network of friends. Everyone participates in making this a better school. There are often activities on evenings and weekends that enrich the whole community.
