What Parents Say
The Nurturing Nook receives mixed reviews with four 5-star ratings praising caring staff, small class sizes, and personalized attention, but two 1-star ratings citing staff turnover, inconsistent care, billing issues, and questionable health screening practices. Overall parents describe either highly positive experiences or significant operational and management concerns.
After nearly two years of enrollment for my two children, I must regrettably share that this has been one of the least satisfactory daycare experiences we have had.My infant frequently returned home in soiled diapers, which was a recurring issue. The facility experienced extremely high staff turnover, leading to inconsistent caregiving and a lack of structured routines. This directly impacted my child’s behavior, including incidents of biting, which I attribute in part to the frequent changes in classroom staff. In nearly two years, I met the owner only twice—once for each annual graduation event. She appeared uninvolved with families except in matters related to payments. I strongly recommend against cash payments unless you meticulously retain all receipts. The facility’s receipt book was often illegible, rendering it ineffective. As a single mother of two, I encountered a billing dispute where I was informed of an alleged 8-week arrears despite regular biweekly payments. Although I provided bank withdrawal screenshots as proof (missing only one payment due to an unnoticed processing delay), the issue caused significant distress. Requests for security camera footage on payment days were denied, with various excuses provided. The owner committed to attending several family events but consistently failed to appear.Parents received frequent emails about classroom closures—particularly in the infant and toddler rooms—due to insufficient staffing or facility issues. These disruptions repeatedly placed my employment at risk. The center frequently requested payments for minor activities, such as pizza parties ($6 per child) or applying sunscreen. For example, upon my infant’s transition to the toddler room at age 1.5, I was asked to pay $6 for a pizza event, which seemed disproportionate given the portion size. Due to staff transitions, my child’s belongings were routinely misplaced or not returned, including over eight water bottles, several jackets, and a sleeping bag. The 3-5 classroom downstairs stands out positively. Teachers Mrs. Jocelyn and Miss J have been consistently present since my enrollment began. They provided exceptional care and support for my children. I cannot recommend this daycare to other families based on these systemic issues. Prospective parents should thoroughly vet facilities for stability, transparency, and family engagement before enrolling.
Nicole and her team are amazing! I can't recommend The Nurturing Nook enough. I have seen two children through TNN, one in the preschool program and the other from 3 months old in their infant program through the toddler room and loved our experience from start to finish. The classes are small and personalized. The staff is very friendly and so good to the kids. My oldest has some special education needs and they were also very flexible in working out a schedule with us so that he could attend a specialized program in the morning and then attend the center in the afternoon. They send daily updates about activities and hold special programs and events for the kids to make their experience extra fun. Both of my kids loved attending, and we loved knowing that our babies were extremely well cared for. You can't go wrong with TNN!
This was my child’s first day care experience due to my mom’s passing. Normally my mom would watch him. I did not have the best experience with this daycare. They called me to tell me that I have to pick up my child because he had a temp of 103. He did not have a temp nor was he sick prior to me dropping him off. He had only been at daycare for 2 hours. When I get there I asked for them to retake his temp as he was jumping and bouncing around with no sign of looking sick at all. Well his temp was 97. I told her his temp is not going to go from 103 to 97 without any medication. They still made me take him home. I had to miss work. They make up excuses to send your child home. So I could no longer trust them with my child because the staff straight out lied to me!! I’m not sure what my child had done for them to lie and send him home but they should be able to talk to me and let me know what had happened. Although there was one young girl in particular who was great with my baby, but she wasn’t with him that day. You have to have patience to work with children and some don’t at this day care. When I called the boss she defended her staff.
Our child attended the Nurturing Nook for six months and honestly we just had the best experience with them. They work very hard to keep all of the children active and engaged. Very happy with them, especially Ms. Melanie and Ms. Christiana. Great overall!!
