What Parents Say
The Lutheran Day Nursery of Chicago receives overwhelmingly positive reviews with parents praising the nurturing environment, dedicated staff, and strong developmental outcomes. One negative review raised concerns about hygiene practices and staff responsiveness to health protocols. Overall, the center is highly recommended by most families.
Lutheran Day has been an integral part of our family’s life for the past three years. We are incredibly grateful for the love, support, and guidance the staff has provided to our boys over the years. Their dedication to our kids’ growth, safety, and happiness has made a lasting impact, and for that, we are truly thankful. We have always felt welcomed, supported, and confident that our children were in the best hands. The nurturing environment they created has helped them thrive, and we will always look back on these years with fondness.
Initially, I was hesitant about enrolling my son in daycare, but after learning about this particular school and taking a tour, I was impressed. My son has been enrolled in this school since he was 3. At that time, he had limited English proficiency as we primarily spoke to him in Spanish. Despite this, he quickly mastered the English language within a year. Now, at 6 years old, he is fully bilingual. After completing preschool, he transitioned into the after-school program. The teachers have been exceptional, and my son has formed strong bonds with them. He eagerly looks forward to his time at the school. I highly recommend that you take the time to check out this place. The children are learning a lot here, and I am eagerly looking forward to the day when my youngest child is old enough to join and benefit from the program.
We have our two year old enrolled here and it is a dream come true. These are large facilities for a day care in the city. The staff are prompt and attentive and keep us informed on every detail of our child’s day. Activities are planned throughout the week to keep the kids stimulated. I am confident my child is in excellent hands.
The teachers were really nice and my daughter did well here, socially. I was not pleased with the cleanliness. My daughter was sick...feverish sick for weeks. I know kids get sick in school but this wasn't normal. There's a huge sign on the 2yr old classroom that says "STOP! Please wash your hands". I watched parents parade their kids right into the classroom, ignoring the sign. When I mentioned it to the director, she said...with major attitude "Well we're not gonna chase people down to wash their hands!" She had been "nice" up until that point. Why do you even bother with a sign, if you don't really care? The last straw was when I picked my baby up around 3:45pm and she had almond butter stuck to her hands and under her fingers nails, with hair/debris stuck to them. I asked the teacher why they hadn't allowed her to wash her hands and her response was that "Oh, Ms. ***** was on hand washing duties today. It was 3:45pm. She ate the almond butter with her morning snack. So since she had the almond butter, she went outside, came back in, ate lunch, took a nap and even ate her afternoon snack!!! Absolutely unacceptable. I believe that was her last day. Hand washing is not a trend, it's necessary.
My daugther is currently at LDN. They are doing major improvements to the inside and outside. THe program staff is passionate and are good with the kids. Pastor Ray is very dedicated. Been in the neighborhood for 100 years, it is a great place to send your kids.
