What Parents Say
The Learning Years Academy receives universal 5-star praise from parents, with particular recognition for Ms. Helga's leadership and the staff's dedication to both academic learning and social-emotional development. Parents consistently highlight the nutritious home-cooked meals, stable staff, small class environment, and Montessori-style education as key strengths that prepare children well for elementary school.
Our daughter has been at The Learning Years Academy for a little over a year, and we couldn’t be happier. Ms. Helga and Ms. Katia provide a warm, structured environment where she feels safe, supported, and excited to learn. We especially appreciate the fresh, home-cooked meals. It’s a huge relief knowing she’s well fed and we don’t need to pack lunches or snacks. The progress she’s made has been incredible: at three years old she’s starting to spell her name, recognizes her letters and numbers, and proudly brings home both artwork and schoolwork. We’re truly grateful for the care and dedication her teachers show every day. We highly recommend The Learning Years Academy to any family looking for exceptional childcare.
We are having a wonderful experience with our kids at the Learning Years Academy. Currently we have our two kids (4 yo and 2 yo) enrolled. It is clear from their confidence, development and what they share with us that they are learning a lot while having positive interactions and relationships with the teachers and other students. We like how reminders about manners and being polite is part of the childcare (something we also emphasize at home). The food they serve is often made from scratch and is a variety of well rounded healthy meals/snacks. We are grateful to Miss Helga and the other teachers for being so wonderful with our kids who actually look forward to going.
Very professional and caring environment for your child to grow up in. My child has been in Ms. Helga’s daycare for over a year and there is big difference in the way children are treated and raised here compared to our old school where the staff were just observing and feeding/changing diapers. Here the real education takes place. Helga and staff (Ms Katya and Ms Melina) are supportive, caring and firm when needed. My child is very stubborn and wants everything her way, and the teachers spend much time explaining what’s right and wrong. They also were very persistent when it came to following the rules (bc in the previous daycare children did whatever they wanted). My child has had much less incidents (falling, scratching, etc.) in the school as well, meaning children are being looked after. Important thing to mention that graduates of Ms.Helga’s daycare easily enroll in Riverview Elementary School, which assesses kids to get in. Overall, great place and I highly recommend this daycare.
I had looked multiple day cares before I decided for my twins to join this one and I am very happy that we made that decision. Miss. Helga and her staff has been great. 1. There is stability. There is a lot of staff changes at other day cares as I have heard from other parents. But I am glad that my daughters have stability here. My daughters have been going there for 2 years now and they love it. 2. Food is another great point here. At other day care centers that I looked into gave crackers etc as snacks only. If I were to send fruits as a snack, I don't think my daughters would eat it as they would like to eat what other kids were having. Nutrition is a big factor for a child's growth. Miss Helga uses organic ingredients mostly. 3. She is very accommodating for all the kids needs. Its your child's safe place. I appreciate all the efforts she makes for the kids. She didn't give birth to them but she treats them all as their own. Miss. Helga is very transparent and I love that about her. She is also very thoughtful about the staff she hires. Thank you so much for taking care of our kids :) I am blessed that we found you for my kids' personal care and didn't go to another big franchise.
When I was looking for a daycare or learning center for my son while we were at work, there were a few non-negotiables. Minimal teacher turnover. A place that educated and kept the children engaged. Breakfast and lunch provided. Teachers who provided comfort to my son. The Learning Years Academy exceeded all my expectations. It was not your regular daycare. It was a school located within a residential area in a converted house. My son started attending the Learning Years Academy at a little over 2.5 years old. He was not potty-trained, a picky eater, and very attached to his mom. Ms. Helga provides healthy, organic, homecooked breakfast and lunch each day. She is aware of my son's allergies and customizes his meals to accommodate his allergies. He was a picky eater and would refuse new foods. Since attending the pre-school, he is open to trying new foods at home. He will take a bite of the new food before stating whether he likes it. My son will tell me that he enjoyed the pasta with red sauce, the grilled cheese, pea soup etc. The learning center (school) is very clean and sanitized. The toys are sanitized daily. Children will wash their hands when they first arrive and throughout the day. No shoes are allowed within the home and must remain in a designated area. It is amazing! The academics consists of classroom-based learning with lots of Montessori type. These include flashcards, tracing shapes and letters, sitting still and listening. The Montessori activities are engaging and fun from walking on a balance beam, building, playing letter bingo, painting shapes. They learn shapes, letters, science, German. The activities do take their ages into account. My son loves all the activities. He is excited to show me his work and tell me about his day. One of the activities was teaching the children how recycle by having them select an item and putting it in the correct spot. When my son got home, he told me that I need recycle my soda can. He also told me about an activity where they were digging up dinosaurs. My son learned a lot at the pre-school. He knew how to count to 16 but skipped over 12-13. Within 4 months of being there, he was counting to 20, spelling his own name, recognizing all his letters, etc. He was also potty-trained within 2 months. The teachers at the learning center (school) are Ms. Helga (the owner) and Ms. Katya. Both are very kind and caring teachers. You can feel that they genuinely love the children. They take the time to play with them and get to know each individually. My son feels loved and comfortable there. When he first started, he would cry every morning. Ms. Helga would provide comfort and make him feel safe. Now he adores Ms. Helga and we look at her like family. He always wants to visit her after she has left for the day telling me "Oh no. I did not give her a hug. I did not get to say bye" or will tell me "We need to get tissue for Ms. Helga. She is out." He is always telling me how Ms. Katya is so sweet and kind. And I agree, Ms. Katya is gracious and smiling with the children. He never wants to go home when I pick him up. He wants to stay and play with Ms. Katya and the other children. The communication is great and they respond quickly. They are so friendly and kindhearted. They are also very open with what occurred during the day and provide updates. Ms. Helga and Ms. Katya have done a remarkable excellent job in creating a safe, loving and fun environment for my son and the children. My son looks at them as family and I do too. My son is always happy, silly and social. They are teachers who will leave a beautiful footprint in his life. I highly recommend The Learning Year Academy!
