Their counseling center was terrible. I grew up going to this church so I was confident they could help my partner who was an addict. They basically told me just to get over it. That it was fine he was doing what he was doing and i should just put up with it. I've never met a more sexist, out of touch counselor who really didn't care. Luckily I had the spiritual discernment to know this relationship was wrong for me and to walk away. Both the emotionally abusive ex and the relationship with this "church." But getting zero support from a church that claimed to be God centered taught me a lot. Twenty years later I've gone way down the rabbit hole of what these mega churches actually are and what they're involved in. It has nothing to do with Christianity. I'm so glad I walked away. You cant expect to get spiritual guidance from people who are all about greed. To see them dismiss these experiences that multiple people are having in the comments by saying "well that counseling center is separate from us." No it wasn't. It was recommended by the church, it was run by church members and it was on the campus of the church. Zero accountability coming from this place. Trust me when I tell you, don't use this church as a daycare.
Incredible Christmas Eve sing a long. Excellent orchestra, choir, and the pipe organ was so powerful. I loved the Christmas sermon from the lead pastor. His preaching was relevant, thought provoking, and honest.
We were invited to their Annual Christmas Concert by a member that's on the choir, and it was beautiful! The choir and orchestra were amazing! This was the first time we visited.
I read two posts that got my attention from Lake Ave Church after I served as an usher for the commencement of Fuller Theological Seminary yesterday 6/14/25. I do not agree with psychology based on the Bible. Then one post about a year ago said their marriage was hurt by a psychological therapist. That confirms my belief. Then another post said Lake became political. In these evil and immoral days, it is fine to be political as long as we support anything and any national leaders who are conservative such as President Trump! Hope I make it clear to Lake Avenue Church and Fuller Seminary. May God bless you! I am an apostle and a warning prophet. I only speak the truth from the Bible, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. Signed from Heaven.
Lake Ave.Church is going through a true revival. New programs are emerging. New members are being baptized every month. It’s so uplifting to see after the downturn in attendance during the COVID years. Three years ago we welcomed a new pastor, Matthew John, who preaches the Word with great fervency, telling true life stories of God’s miraculous working in people’s lives and applying Scripture to each Sunday’s lesson. The Altadena/Eaton Canyon Fire destroyed the homes of many members, but uplifting stories of victory and renewal are rising from the ashes. Our Church took an active role in bringing shelter and support to the victims because sharing Christ’s love is why we’re here. I’ve been attending many years now. I hope you’ll try Lake, too.. If you’re shy, you can sit in the balcony. Right now, we have just ONE Sunday service. It’s at 9:30am and there’s a place for you, I promise.
