What Parents Say
Parents consistently praise Hudson Guild as a clean, well-maintained multi-service community center with skilled staff and excellent facilities. The center offers comprehensive programs including childcare, arts, recreation, and educational activities for ages 5-24, with homemade meals and a holistic approach to child development.
This place is amazing with any help that you and your family are in assistance of, they have wonderful people and wonderful holiday events that help out many families as well as camp and Afterschool programs they have a gym that’s also available for use.
I was a previous student here since kindergarten and the service was horrible. From kindergarten to third grade, the staff were amazing, but after that, the staff was just rude and disrespectful. Yes, some staff were actually nice, but most weren’t. They do (sometimes) have fun activities and good snacks for the kids when they get there.
A place where people can come together to help others and themselves through education, skills-building, and joint action. The Guild keeps adults healthy, active and engaged through a range of educational, recreational and health-related activities. Hudson Guild provides opportunities for everyone in our community to explore their interests in performing and visual arts, both as active participants and new audience members. Skilled teachers, bright classrooms and healthy meals are all part of the child’s experience, as we encourage them towards life-long learning. Customized programs develop the social and emotional skills that are a foundation for personal and academic success. A holistic approach to academic support, enrichment activities, physical activity and healthy living. Young people, ages 5-24, attend Hudson Guild for academic achievement, life skills development, college and career training, employment experience, recreation, and social/emotional support.
This is a standard but decent community effort giving locals a place to go for a wide variety of activities. This is a noble effort but more funding is obviously required in order for the community to take full advantage of the kind of services that can come out of this Center. After school activities for young ones and older ones are readily available; there should should also be a little bit more effort in staff training and professional development, even with minimal funding a well-presented and professional staff can go a long way.
Hudson Guild held a pop up shop for the community on 12/14/2022 around 3pm. My child and I stood on the line for 25 to 30 minutes possibly more in frigid temperatures. Obviously, tenants of the neighborhood young and old were there to shop for items courtesy of guild. Onc indoors they said everyone have a seat. Daisy, staff directing tenants of neighborhood asked if everyone signed in. There were no signs indicating guest can only participate with invite only. In otherwords, anyone walked and picked out 8 items as per staff Daisy. I proceeded to pick out items and was rushed out room. When I went home I noticed I had 6 items instead of 8. Went back to guild and waited on line patiently to bring discrepancy to Diasy attention. She rudely asked if I was there earlier from another room. I said yes and indicated out of 8 items I retrieved 6 and was it possible to get the 2 items. She said I can't do that for you. Tis the season for people not to be understanding and for them to react disrespectful. Her reply was inappropriate and distasteful. As people and as a community we have to do better. For starters, respect and dignity goes a long way. Hudson Guild is a community center for tenants in the neighborhood that is known to assist tenants in the neighborhood who live here. Instead their representative, Daisy makes families feel they shouldn't be there. Happy, not too happy holiday courtesy of Daisy dressed in the wrong Santa helper suit. Instead she should've wore a grim reaper suit.
