What Parents Say

The Children's Workshop in Hanover receives overwhelmingly positive feedback from most parents, with particular praise for the director Jessica, teaching staff, nurturing environment, and developmental progress of children. However, one detailed negative review raises serious concerns about discipline practices, inadequate supervision of bullying incidents, and safety failures during nap time.

⭐ 1/5 – DO NOT ENROLL HERE – Safety & Supervision Nightmare We won the lottery for this Pre-K and it was the worst experience of our child’s life. Multiple red flags: 1. Punitive “discipline” – Our 4yo was repeatedly forced to sit with head down, sitting with legs crossed, unable to look up, if she didn’t clean up fast enough. When we raised this with the principal, she dismissed our daughter as “confused.” Another student confirmed the same punishment happened to them. Gaslighting parents is not OK. 2. Zero incident reports – A boy hit our daughter daily (hair-pulling, shoving, hitting, pushing her head down). We told the teacher. There was no documentation, no seating changes, no follow-up. He continued to sit directly behind her, and the abuse continued. 3. Dangerous nap-time supervision failure – The same boy was involved in a serious boundary violation with another little girl during nap. No staff intervened in time. We only learned because the other child’s parent told us. Admin’s response? Silence and deflection. We pulled our daughter immediately. We contacted RIDE, BrightStars, DHS, and all failed us, and every other child in that classroom. Nothing significant was done. Trust broken. Educators and admin failed at the most basic duty: keeping our 4-year-olds safe.. Our most prized possessions, and a truly vulnerable population. The only reason we sent her here were the glowing reviews. However, 2 students dropped by October 2025 and parents should have some background why. The school won’t tell them because they prioritize the protection of their institution over the protection of the actual children. The bottom line is, our children are not being watched properly. Everything in this review is written from our perspective and based on what our child told us (and what we personally observed or were told by other parents). Warn your parent groups. Look elsewhere.

My separation anxiety preschooler just started here 2mths ago. He had just a few words and is already more vocal. The director Jessica is beyond awesome!!! The teachers are outstanding!!! There is family engagement, learning, field trips, everything you can want in preparing your child for kindergarten. I can't say one bad thing about this preschool. In just 2 months they have already proven to me that the right choice was made for my preschooler. The plus side...my preschooler loves his teachers, the director, and school! He looks forward to going everyday!

I have been with TCW for over 6 months now and let me tell you ,this daycare is the absolute best! The teachers , the support staff and the director Jess and assistant director Sophie are 10 stars! I love the nurturing environment and the enthusiasm the teachers show everyday!

The reason for 5 stars is that I’ve seen teachers at Rumford work very hard to make sure each child’s needs are met, whether it’s social-emotional, academic, behavioral, special needs and, well, list goes on and on. Coming from public school teaching to TCW, I know for a fact that these teachers are professionals in their fields, as are doctors and lawyers, etc. Plus they are human just like the rest of us. They truly want what’s best for children!

Couldn’t have made a better decision when I was initially looking for childcare. Everything about this center exceeds my expectations - the cost, the quality, and most importantly, the teachers. My 2 and 3 year old are in the Toddler & Pre-K classes and they LOVE going to school everyday. My initial conversation with the Director, Jess, was great - she left no questions unanswered and was very responsive and informative. We were most worried about my 3 year old, who was shy, quiet and didn’t speak much - 6 months later we see a HUGE improvement in his development. When we were first searching for a daycare, we knew it had to check off a certain criteria: distance from work/home, diverse, affordable, and lastly, we just needed a good “feeling” about it. Well - we were right. Our kids love their teachers & friends, they play outside everyday, have water play in the summer, and get to do all sorts of fun things! Bonus - they even serve breakfast, lunch & snacks (from our research, a lot of centers don’t serve breakfast or lunch, and you’d have to bring your own.) The ONLY downside is that they close at 5:15pm, which is tricky for a 9-5 schedule, but that sounds like it’s due to Covid. Still - no points docked.
